This coaching staff works really hard (lives in the office for 90 plus hours a week in season) and does their very best to win.

We play teams that are much much much more talented than we are.

We compete closely for an entire half.

We wear out completely in the second half and get rolled.

Our mouth breathers call for the firing of various coaches.

Our freshmen get more and better experience and our recruits see that the promise of immediate playing time is real.

Our guys like Milton and Hunter and Rogers all play terrible and yet they still get lots of opportunities because they are better than the other options we have.

A guy like Arnett can come in here and play for certain and that has to be attractive.

Crowell can play for certain.

Crowder will be our starting center.

Couch will be our starting DT, but he could be joined with Gabe Wright getting tons of PT as a freshman.

Brent Brewer and Janzen Jackson will be joined by Loften and Wright and some other help and the abomination that was Art Evans tonight will never be seen again.

Bray is taking his lumps, but he will be better than Simms can ever dream of.

We are finally going to have the players to compete in 2012. Until then, we are going to improve in an incremental manner. I have been disappointed in the UAB game (although they looked good today also) and in the Georgia game (where we seemed to quit after turnovers put us in a hole).

And yet they still can't solve the substitution issue.....It's not rocket science.

These are my favorite threads. The ones talking about how great our freshmen will be. I hate to tell you but Alabama and Florida have freshmen too and they are better than ours.

Nothing like putting off the present for a full year. We've now officially turned into South Carolina.

"Yeah, well, wait till you see how good we are next year."

Hey! Maybe the new freshmen will know how to count to 11, know when to get off the field for their package, and be able actually tackle someone instead of constantly whiffing.

And I'm not putting all the blame on the players. Hey Coach, their receiver has 150 yards... we might want to roll some safety coverage over there or something, these naked blitzes aren't working... nah... let's have Art Evans go solo on one of the premiere receivers in the conference. Good idea.

Who is Brewer?

I think you have a very positive outlook on the future.. But playing close in the first half then getting absolutely destryoed by Oregon, UAB, Florida and Alabama in the third quarter has nothing to do with depth in my opinion. Someone goes in the locker room and fixes problems and someone doesn't. I fear we are the someone who doesn't (coaching).. I hope you are right but I am trying to be very realistic.....

Guys seriously look at our issues.

We are down 15 players.

We have no DTs. Literally. None. We had 1 and in Hughes and he got hurt.

One of the most physical plays from our defense aside from some beastly hits from Brewer (he played in the MLB and has been away from football for years) and Lathers was from a guy in Martin who is out for the year...

We have no center. Pope is done and Gooch has been as bad as you would think a guy who wrestled at 215 would be.

Our blocking, our discipline when it comes to a lack of false starts etc are usually great for a half.

There is not another realistic explanation of how badly we get rolled in the second half except the OBVIOUS depth issues.

The lack of adjustments during half time killed us in the third quarter of the Oregon, Florida and Alabama games.

That is mainly coaching.

If we can hang with those teams through a half, we should be able to hang with them through the third quarter of those games. The fourth quarter is where lack of talent/depth should show up, not the third quarter. We are getting outschemed big time.

Oregon game
Halftime score - TN 13 OR 13
Third quarter scoring - OR 14 TN 0
Final score - OR 48 TN 13

Florida game
Halftime score - FL 7 TN 3
Third quarter scoring - - FL 17 TN 7
Final score - - FL 31 TN 17

Alabama game
Halftime score - AL 13 TN 10
Third quarter scoring - AL 21 TN 0
Final score - AL 41 TN 10

Go be a bandwagon Bammer then, and ours is getting playing time. Its common sense we'll be on the top sooner or later.

This is what I'm starting to think. I'm not buying the depth thing anymore either for the 3rd qtr issues. Depth is an issue but I'm not so sure it has to do with our 3rd qtr blowouts.

We come out of the half fresh, so issue shouldn't be depth or condiditoning IF we competed well in the first half.

Could we just suck at halftime adjustments?

This is how College Football works; Head Coaches suck it up and piss off fans so they fire their OC or DC. They suck again the AD fires the coach and cleans house. Now after that do we get to fire the AD on down?

The difference is that both Florida and Alabama have decent juniors and seniors on there squads. The freshmen mesh nicely with them. In Tennessee case, we don't have decent juniors and seniors. The freshemen are just about all we have at this point.

Let's stop at your first statement, how the hell do you know how long the coaching staff is spending in the office
I stopped reading about halfway through that comment

They should have already fired the great financial genius.

Dude, it has everything to do with depth. We get tired and they start moving the ball.
