Oregon Game Day Weather (merged)

Who cares. Just go out and punch them in the mouth early and grind 'em down for four quarters.

80 and 83% humidity doesn't sound THAT bad....

True. But it was 43% humidity Monday night and Boise st. was cramping up. And Chip Kelly said they cranked it up to 68% humidity this week for practice. 80%+ humidity will be a factor. It wont be THE factor but it will matter imo

83% humidity is good for about 10 degrees of "feels like" temperature. Additionally humidity that high it severely depletes your body's ability to retain moisture when outside in it, much less partaking in physical activity. Also 83% is high, extremely high if it happens without rain fall. Humidity above 90% almost always requires recent rain or a location near significant amounts of water.

Basically 83% humidity is a lot. For the record, the Pacific Northwest is the most humid location in the entire country, the issue isn't so much the humidity as it is the heat combined with the humidity (they don't deal with both at once). Being a night game I doubt it will factor in that much, it won't be terribly hot. The humidity advantage is being way overplayed.

Go watch the goonies. The humidity was really wrecking havoc on lil Mikey's asthma.

Did we really make a humidity thread?

Really?

I think the students should take their sling hygrometers to the game instead of the rubber ducks......

It has been an odd year, unfortunately. Eugene typically has high 70's low 80's right now.

On those days when it climbs into the upper 90's, is there usually a lot of humidity or is it fairly dry? Because I know day after day 90's and humid was absolutely miserable here in Knoxville this summer.

We only have humidity when it rains for the most part, so no.

I am just glad this isn't a day game, time and the heat and humidity would be a factor for most of the team. Of course, the QB and his two RB's are from Texas so they already know how it feels.

I was watching the movie about Marshal the other night and prayed a littler prayer.

The willamette valley seems to be one ofthe few areas on the west coast that can actually produce some humidity in the summer, but not on the same scale as the Midwest or south.

Eugene is pretty cool right now, but the ducks have been training at high temp and humidity in the moshovsky indoor practice facility.

I think we can keep their defense on the field and get them winded. Success in running and keeping the ball away from barner and James is the key. If they get too many carries, they WILL gash us for big yards.

The other thing well need to do well is limit return yards. Their return game is the real deal.

Even when we are losing getting tired on either side of the ball will not happen to the extent you think. We practice like we play.....very fast. These guys are very well conditioned. Our defense goes up against our offense all year.....they will be waiting impatiently at the LOS...:eek:lol:

eta....I agree with you on special teams, think some may overlook this. Barner is on punt return and kick return. Hopefully Cliff Harris is with him on kick return. We play soundly on our part defending it.

Ever had a decent work out outside in the south or Midwest on the worst of summer days? There's nothing remotely close to that west of the Rockies. I hope Kelly had them doing burpees in a bikram studio an hour a day.

James better hope his lungs remember what summer hell week during Texas hs ball was like.

Oregon plays on a brand new turf/artificial grass field. I'm more worried about rain messing up their timing on offense than speed. We have some intricate plays.

Yes I have........The heat index doesn't show that it's going to be like summertime weather.......not even close.
