Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

So..... for those of you who don't know my oldest son is autistic. More specifically aspergers syndrome. In 8th grade when he chose to play football I thought it would end in a week. Well he's a senior now. He plays ball better now than I ever thought he would. Today he called from practice to tell me he was done because of limited play time and a difficult class load. It's just not worth it he said. I told him to man up look the coach in the eye and tell him. This is very difficult for a kid with aspergers. But he did it.

It didn't go as planned. It seems one of the freshmen saw him trying to turn in his pads and told everyone. The team talked him out of quitting and coach wouldn't take his pads. One kid said it's not Bucs football without Boody. (His nickname) it turns out you don't have to be the star to be the heart and soul of the team.

Anyway. How was your day?
Kick ass, Boody! Finish it out and don't quit!
See ya in October! Go Bucs!!!!

My dumbass painted the logo on the 45.
Solution, paint another one on the other 45.

that's awesome man

I'm proud of him. Facing Coach was probably one of the toughest things he's ever done. It was a good day for his growth as a man. He learned how to speak up for himself and that you often don't know how important you really are.

I wanted to quit basketball my soph year. Girlfriend told the coach and then the coach talked to my dad. After school, dad drove by our street and I asked where we were going. He said he heard I was going to quit basketball and that's fine, but "I got you a job cleaning toilets at McDonalds and you have to go meet the manager".
I changed my mind and attitude quickly. And the job ended up being bs of course but I wasn't calling his bluff because he would've made it happen if I did.
