You've used this thread to talk about this stuff before so I assume you don't mind me bringing this up here. No big deal either, I was just curious what you, or 445 and Big O for that matter, use mostly to study/research scripture.

I’ll read anything. But mostly a hebrew for Old Testament. And nasb. Slice taught me a different way to look at scripture that I never thought of before

I wasn't being facetious. Can you read Hebrew? If not what do you use to translate? Ive seen you post in the Bible thread that you've "done a study" on a particular subject, Im asking what that means, how or what do you use?

If I asked you about the Trinity, where would you go, or where did you go to get the information that gave you your answer/opinion?

It’s weird never Been around a Jewish person that I know of. I’m not anywhere close to fluent. But I understand enough now to somewhat read it. It’s funny how it started. To be point blank. I dreamed a phrase one night. Had no idea what it was for a long time. That’s what got me studying hebrew. I took Latin and French in high school. Languages have always come fairly easy. But to answer your question. I do have an app that converts hebrew for things I don’t know.

The second half of your question. Depends on where I find the scripture. Deuteronomy 4 answers that question for me pretty plainly so a hebrew Bible would be what I used. And would cross reference with nasb. I genuinely don’t care what the truth is, I just want the truth. And I don’t really trust myself opinion so I definitely don’t trust others opinion. I’ll study what they say tho. Hope that explains it i had a domestic during the reply

I think @Orangeslice13 would agree that is how I am.

Like I said, its more curiosity than anything.

I usually use the KJV, but have been comparing lately. I've looked at comparisons and charts and talked to my pastor. I really like my pastor, but I don't agree with him on everything and some things I just flat out disagree with. Anyway.....

Slice has said the KJV was "okay for light reading" and he uses the NASB. I don't understand what he means. I've compared them and I think the NASB is easier to read. In fact, I've been using it more often. Funny, I talked to my pastor and he said if I wanted to use one other than the KJV that I should use the NIV. I disagree. Its in a different and less accurate category than the NASB and KJV.

You said the "KJV wasn't even really a Bible", and you also use the NASB.

All accuracy comparison charts I've seen have the NASB and KJV in the same category with the KJV being either 3rd or 4th after NASB as most accurate.

I've just acquired 2 sets of Commentary's and a Concordance, so I was just curious if any of you used any and if so by who. I was using the internet mostly but I decided I wanted actual books. I like to have books when studying my culinary stuff too.

I'm set on some things and won't change my mind but if I disagree with someone I might be interested in where they got their opinion/information.

Mainly I’m just giving big o grief about the kjv. While I don’t use it I would before the niv. I researched the niv and found some really alarming things about the guys behind it. They didn’t believe in Christ’s divinity and removed just enough to pass it on. However our associate pastor uses it. I have no problem with what bible people use. I assume if YHWH can use someone as imperfect as me he could also use what ever he wants

I’ve got a strongs concordance I use to use a lot until I found issues in it as well. I realize It’s that way with what ever we use.

What issues? And how did you confirm they were issues and incorrect?

My Concordance is Strong's. I don't use it either but my issue with it was it seemed to be overkill and I just didn't like it. I have an Ungers and Strong's Bible dictionary I use instead.

Best I remember it was saying a word meant something in hebrew that I knew was incorrect and after double checking myself I put it down. That happen a few times

I still have the copy of the NASB that was given to me while I was a freshman at UT. It's softbound, but has held up well.

ESV or the NASB.
Both translations use the oldest available text and footnotes almost everything including verses that don’t appear in the earlier copies.
