Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

About ready to call it a week

This week I’ve had,,,,,

-1 dewalt 20v max impact driver dropped in a swim pool
-1 bosh jack hammer go up in smoke.
-The clutch on my f 250 went out.
-While try to limp to the repair shop I hit a chunk of metal in the road and shredded 2 tires.
-and today the compactor slung a rod.

All in I’m down 11k this week.

And
Tennessee football sucks.

I’m not interested in the debate that will follow with a certain dipstick if I answer in that thread so I’ll respond here. Hope that’s ok.

Contrary to what most think, forgiveness and atonement are not the same thing. And while both are tied to Messiah there’s a lot of confusion about it among believers. As believers we should not worry only about being forgiven by G‑d. Take Yom Kippur as an example. Yom Kippur is primarily about atonement. Forgiveness means that after I make my apology ( ask for forgiveness) I'm off the hook (sort of) Atonement means that I am seeking to restore the relationship to its original state.

The word for atonement in Hebrew is kaparah, which also means "wiping up." If I spill my grape juice on your carpet, I can say sorry and be forgiven. But the stain is still there. Atonement only comes when I get the carpet cleaners to come clean your carpet.

And this is what the feast and the original sacrificial system did. It wasn’t and isn’t as simple as ask for forgiveness and I’m good. I would argue there is no forgiveness without repentance but that’s a different debate. G-d was faithful to forgive all that ask and the system represent amends/ atonement. Amends/ atonement are not apologies. Making amends means trying to remove the stain, making things right again, and restoring the relationship to G-d. Messiah (aka Jesus) is uniquely qualified as a redeemer and a forgiver as he was sinless before the creator and therefore able to erase dept that wasn’t his. Passover in and of itself fully explains this and many Christians refer to Messiah as the Passover lamb but are completely clueless as to what it means or how it fits together.
If you’re interested beyond my ramblings look into what it means to be a “kinsman redeemer” from a Jewish perspective.

Sorry if that’s disjointed or confusing but it’s not easy to answer that question in short answer form.

Shalom my friend.
