Back three weeks ago, I predicted the announcement would happen on Dec 6 or Dec 7. Yay me!


However, I didn't have Butch Jones in my top-20.

Maybe he'll be great. I like his age! If you toss out the losing to Dooley thing, he has done alright.

If Hart's good of the program meant taking out the finished section of the upper deck so I can see the Ayers from the stadium again, I'm good.

Some things I've gathered about Coach Butch Jones (mostly due to living in Cinci and having someone very close who works at UC).
- very hard worker
- does everything the right way, no exceptions, no apologies
- really, really, really wants to be at UT. I heard a story that he was overheard last summer saying that he wanted the UT job when Dooley was fired this year. Then quoted recently saying Colorado was not a destination job, but Tennessee was.
- 4 conference championships (or shares) in 6 years as HC
- gets his players to overachieve
- has an awesome football haircut (General Neyland likey) and nickname

This is a good hire. The best we could have made? Who the hell knows. I think his calls on the assisstants will be telling.

What pi$$ed me off this a.m. was all the bish-azz Vols fans tweeting nasty shiz to Coach Jones old account. Have some friggin' class and if you can't then keep it to yourself.

I want to hear him tell me how damn happy he is to have the opportunity then I'll be a fan.

I think it's a good hire. Maybe I'm wrong but I hope not. Lots of excited tweets from the players and I think he really wants to be here.

Every coach was happy to get an opportunity at some point.

For some reason I just googled Nick Saban. It just shocked me how very mediocre he was until he got to LSU. Even there, with the title he lost a few games. His first season at Bama wasn't great, then things really took off, but if LSU hadn't gambled on him I wonder if Bama ever would have given him the shot.

I guess my point is, you can't tell what you're going to get with a coach until you give them a chance. Jones has definintely been more successful his first 6 years than Saban. I guess we'll see.

There's no way they can tell the boosters to f off and keep their job so either a) some boosters are lying or b) there's about to be a war. Something tells me a couple of the boosters were ok with this.

6 years 18 million, yeah that tells the fans you're ready to win championships.

Tells me they (Hart & Co.) didn't use the money the boosters were willing to give for a better coach.
