Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

An example of the hidden genius of Jimmy buffet.

Nautical wheelers who call themselves sailors
Play fiddle tunes under the stars.
Petticoats rustle, working shoes scuffle,
Hustle on down to the bars.
Where the jukebox is blastin'
And the liquor is flowing
An occasional bottle of wine.
That's cause everyone here is just more than
Contented to be living and dying in three quarter time.”

Hint: in what measure is that song written?

That’s one explanation.
I’m sure there’s some joke there about the death of Jimmy Buffet that I’m just not getting.
Looking at his posts last night, Imma stick with my guess. But if you're right Imma say it ain't a funny joke. Lol.

I have no idea but my favorite line is Livin and dying in 3/4 time. That's a phrase common with the locals in Key West.

On that note, I hate that place. It's not a good place to be if youre not good at controlling your alkyhol consumption.

The lyrics of "Nautical Wheelers" on Buffett's subsequent album, A1A, refer to "living and dying in ¾ time" and the song is also in 3
4
time.

I know nothing about measures in which songs are written.
Lol
You don’t have too.
I was just pointing out the genius of the artist.

He took a phrase used by locals that also had a musical definition, included it in a song and wrote that song in that musical meter.

Clearly I was a fan and will miss him even though he had no idea who I was

I’m guessing that my rep in the FF is “odd” and/or “old,” though my few posts there do accumulate likes.
