Orangeslice13, a blessing to those around him…..Again

Why, do you like playing around with
My, narrow scope of reality
I, can feel it all start slipping away
See but I don't get it
Don't you think maybe we could put it on credit
Don't you think it can take control when I don't let it
I get stupified
It's all the same you say
Live with it

But I don't get it

Bust a tune!

Slice, I am thinking about doing some sound proofing at my parents house. Big thing is my sisters room right by the kitchen. I am thinking about getting her a solid door (foam core or whatever home depot/lowes has) and then maybe some weather proofing strips to go around the edges. I didn't know if you had any experience or advice to offer on that?

My other sister has a trickier situation being under the kitchen and hearing the steps, not a lot I can do about that without ripping up the flooring but again if you have advice let me know.

Sheet rock is always easier than flooring. Plus it will give you a chance to get rid of the popcorn ceiling down there.
The room upstairs across from the kitchen will be helped by the door but the weather stripping won't do much. I have a buddy who went in the attic drilled 1/2 in holes in the tops of his walls between studs and filled the walls with great stuff spray foam. He says it takes 4 cans per 16.
That might be an option for you as the attic has plenty of room and their access is close by if I recall correctly

Unless we put the new sheetrock on resilient channels I don't think it will help with this noise problem. Its not hearing voices but the footsteps. anything directly applied to the structure isn't going to stop that. To get technical I need/want to increase the IIC not the STC.

I figured some form of insulation might be needed in the walls but I wanted to start at the door because I think that is the biggest issue, and its cheap and easy and I could handle it.
