Torcon 6 is no joke. That's real deal. Everyone stay safe. I hope the forecast changes and everyone going can enjoy a great afternoon.

Toronto 6 is not a joke. I am a storm spotter in souther middle Tn and this prediction keeps getting bumped up over last day. I expect my phone to go off asking for spotters on Saturday. However, all my spotting will have to be from Neyland! I will be there.

How do you become a spotter?

National Weather Service has entry level classes and advanced classes. I am also a HAM radio operator so I can relay information back to our Skywarn base. They relay info to NWS Nashville.

Interesting. I've always been a weather enthusiast. I frequent the AmericanWX forums. I should check this out.

The wife and I are driving in tonight and I hope it is clear enough to have the game. I'm going to try and get our regular seats for the upcoming season as well (under cover of upper deck.)

Are you secretly a meteorologist?

Lol, no I'm actually just an engineer. I am 36 and have studied meteorology all my life...have even storm chased a little. Have a friend that is completing his PHD in meteorology and had a lot of physics classes with him. I have typically made my own forecasts...particularly during severe weather situations and winter weather situations. It's fun to compare my interpretation of the models with the "Pros".

Now that we're a day closer are you still sticking with your prediction from earlier in the thread?

I am actually. In particular if we see sunshine. These storms could go boom in a hurry if we see a lot of surface heating. The more clouds the lesser the chance of a major severe weather outbreak.

Just watching the weather channel and they are not sure what's going to happen tomorrow. It is a dynamically changing situation. You may not get anything....ooooorrrrrrr you might get a sharknado.

As a storm spotter myself, I'm with you. It does look like there will be a period of sun in the early afternoon. I'm really concerned about this storm, especially the potential for up to baseball size hail and a few tornadoes.

P.S. Almost forgot the up to 80 MPH destructive winds. That alone could do just as much damage as a weak tornado.

I am watching the weather channel right now and they just went over the models for tennessee tomorrow. Early rain, then it will clear out and they are really unsure if storms will fire up later in the day at this point. The storms will be to the north in Ohio and to the south in alabama. I bet tomorrow afternoon will be o.k.

You need to look at multiple outlets instead of just TWC. The local media and the NWS (who know East TN weather a lot more than a station in Atlanta does) are in pretty good agreement that there's going to be some nasty storms tomorrow.
