Ah the potent juice of youth...makes you say things that in a few years will make you slump down in your recliner and feel ashamed...I was there once....and said really ignorant things that I thought were...cool...about the aged...thinking surely I would NEVER feel the effects of age, trauma, and life in general...but alas...I have surrendered to the gnarled fingers and stressed shoulder joints, not to mention the back, that once could shoot under par on a decent day...to now taking meds, stretching, and praying that I'll be able to make it to church tomorrow, play lively with the grandchildren(as Archie Manning said, "Being a grandparent...now there's something that's greatly underrated) and hoping beyond hope that come Monday I'll be able to summons up the booming drives, crisp spinning wedges, and eyes to bottom every putt I look at...just one more time...but on the subject of the gray checkerboard? Leave it alone....I think it would be like the tattoo craze we see now...we would wake up one day...look at it with disgust....and ask " WHAT IN THE NAME OF SMOKEY WAS I THINKING?"

We are already gonna wear grey jerseys, might as well go all out and use grey and orange checkerboards. I think it would be cool for the alternate uni game.

Perhaps it might do you some good to remember that those "blue hairs" were in Neyland stadium watching the Vols long before you were a glint in your parents eyes. I am guessing that some of them still attend more games than you do.

Especially when I consider the fact that new colors seem to be important to you.

This reminds me of the time I started a thread explaining how, IMO, the generic "its great to be a Tennessee Vol" chant is not up to UT greatness standards because its the main thing our fans chant and just so happens to be used by seemingly every other football team in America as well.

I tried to make the case that instead of differentiating ourselves we seem like just another program/team when we use it. But you would have thought I proposed getting rid of Smokey and replacing him with an Iguana considering the overwhelmingly negative reaction.

I gather that anything Tennessee football related with sentimental value to a portion of the fan base will be fiercely defended and even any valid criticisms wont be entertained.

Nobody left because of black jerseys. I thought the crowd was great that day even with the weather

The blue hairs would rather spout ALL the maxims pregame EVERY game than have gray and orange checkerboard endzones for 1 game of the year.

Pretty damn sad.
