Will they be starters game 1 this season or will they be red shirted? I think Dooley will utilize them day one because our current punter and kicker our trash. Me and my buddy argued on whether they would play this year. I told him they would play immediately because they simply were the best we had on the team. He said that they would red shirt them this year because he said this year was basically a waste and we were rebuilding. I said son we dont rebuild at Tennessee and we sure as hell dont count any season a waste! GBO!

My oppinion, is that you will here the biggest cheer from a Tennessee crowd you have heard in a long time, because the kick is going into the end zone.

Congratulations! You and your friend BOTH managed to be wrong. They will not be redshirted nor will they start game 1. They won't be redshirted because they'll be second on the depth chart and kickers and punters are always fragile. They may be the most talented at their respective positions, but they won't start immediately either. They'll be worked in here and there as the year progresses, if I had to guess. One or both may actually win the starting jobs at some point...just not day one.

If Palardy can kick the ball through the end zone a majority of the time like they say, he will be kicking the ball off in game 1. We haven't had anyone that could that in a while, and the one's we have now sure can't. He might not be kicking field goals or extra points game 1, but he will be kicking off if his leg is as strong as what we've all heard.

Playing them all year could be worth a couple of wins and maybe be the difference between being in a bowl or not.
Kicking last year was horrible. If Lincoln and Cunningham are the kickers, Vol fans will revolt.

I personally think that Palardy will be kicking off from the first game. He possibly might be kicking FG's and PAT's in game 1 as well, but I think he might be worked in to that rotation sometime during the season.

Darr probably won't be punting to start the season, but he will move into the position a couple of games in relieving cunningham.

If Darr gets a RS it will be toward the end of the year and because he couldn't win the kickoff or punter jobs. Dooley has said he continues to develop positions throughout the year and does not redshirt until towards the end. IMO if he can place kicks and has good hangtime, he has a good shot at starting punter. It will be very hard for anyone to beat Palardy for kickoffs and he at least wins long FG opportunities, cause Lincoln just doesn't have the range for 40+.

They will start, lincoln and cunnigham are obsalite. Remember how last year we got to the point where if it was 4th down in field goal range we had to go for it. and by frail idk Darr played LB at his school as well he actually led the team in tackles so i dont think he'll be frail. More of a greater last line of defense against the punt return. And apparently Palardy has a f'n boot soo... There is going to be great competition between all the kickers but i def see Darr and Palardy starting.

They are either starters, or are not what they were supposed to be. Is Palardy also going to get a shot to be the punter?

Palardy is as good or better punter than Darr. He has been told he can compete for punter also, but it may be tough to do all 3.

i hate to burst everyones bubble but palardy was horrible in the barns vs st a game that was on espnu yeater day...not to mention he had 2 fg blocked in the all american game.... he might need a year under a college coach to tune his skills...

My $.02 - Darr shatters all previous punting records held at TN this year.

So he hasnt even played a game in Orange and White and already your proclaiming him a better punter than any of the Colquitt's?

Another thing, and I could be way off on this one. Everyone on here thinks Palardy will just come in and boot every kickoff deep into the endzone for a touchback because thats what he did with the majority of his kickoffs in high school. However, in college dont they put the ball further back? Meaning kickoffs in high school that reached the back of the end zone may only reach the 5 yard line in college? I hope they both play well, no doubt... And I dont think we will know if they are going to redshirt or not until the end of the season unless of course they have seen the field during a game. Just some thoughts. :hi:

The blocks in the all-american game were not his fault. He cannot do the blocking too. On one of the blocks, the guy that blocked the kick was close enough to run over him legally right after he blocked the kick.
In the byrnes game, palardy boomed the punts to where the Byrnes guys could not judge them.
