Onside kick

Why onside kick the ball with 1:55 left and two timeouts. Of course you put a lot of pressure on the defense, but if you kick the ball off through the end zone, hold them on first and second down using both timeouts, hold them on third down they will punt and you will get decent field position with about 55 seconds left only needing a field goal. What am I missing?

Just made it to the hotel about an hour ago. It was a long game and so disappointing.

I'm not sure where to start.

Thanks for filling in the blanks though. My party did not want to stay even after we intercepted it with about 4 minutes left. We tried to listen on our way to the bus pickup. We heard the fireworks go off and realized we had closed the gap.

It was 26-24 right under the 2 minute timeout, then we were surprised to find that Oklahoma had it 1st and goal seconds later.

It seems it made no sense to onside kick it.

I liked the call. Putting them in field goal range and giving them a chance to get a field goal is better than being in a situation where our kicker has to try and win it for us again.

I’d rather have the ball in the offenses hands at the end rather than him
