Why onside kick the ball with 1:55 left and two timeouts. Of course you put a lot of pressure on the defense, but if you kick the ball off through the end zone, hold them on first and second down using both timeouts, hold them on third down they will punt and you will get decent field position with about 55 seconds left only needing a field goal. What am I missing?

You are right, but it doesn't matter when our defense can't stop the run up the middle even when you know the other team is going to run.

Maybe knowing that the onside kick was our only chance at ever getting the ball back.

Could have been 3 timeouts had we kicked the FG at the 2:11 mark.

Because our defense would’ve given up a first down.

My sentiments exactly. I immediately thought when we did that: WTF?

Defense didn’t lose the game tonight. The offense did in the first half. Defense kept oklahoma at bay, offense squandered and blundered it up.

Common sense. lol a FG doesn’t put the game out of reach if they kick one. Obviously you can’t have a bust of a run right up the middle regardless of where you’re at on the field though

Right. And one first down it’s over on their own 10 or on our 45. I think it was the right call to onside kick early. Now the time management from 4:18 to 2 was was horrendous. Joey made several bad decisions to run for 4-6 yards gains the entire game. Normally QB get praised for those salvage runs but ya gotta be aware of the game situation

You either kick it deep and pin the game on getting a stop or you roll the dice at converting the onside kick. I personally prefer the onside kick. Especially in a 2 point game.

Defense didn’t play awful tonight until late and that’s on Banks. Their QB almost had 100 yds rushing on us. Why did he not have AC or Spillman spy him. It’s not like they play pass D anyways

I thought the clock stops to reset the ball on first downs. I must be wrong because they just ran the hell out of it after making two first downs.

Nothing. You think like our coach. Trot an unreliable kicker out there hoping for a different result from what we are getting from him. He is a choker. There has to be someone else on this team that has kicked before. Way past time to use them.
