Onside kick clarification

Was at the game and it looked like on the replay it went 11ish yards. Consensus in our section (Bama fans includeed) was it was a successful onside kick. No one understand the illegal touching call. For everyone that watched it it at home or knows better, what was the rationale behind the call? Thanks in advance.

From the replay I watched, it appeared to hit the chest of one of our players in the process of going the required 11 yards.

Nothing he could do. The kick was just too close to him and bounced up and hit him. He was looking at the line to make sure he didn't recover it too soon.

Banks fumbled the failed onside recovery when he hit the ground...and got a personal foul on the Safety. And has shown to be a chronic fumbler of the ball. Needs fundamentals and discipline. I LOVE his toughness and passion...just HATE his lack of fundamental mechanics and lack of discipline.

The fumbling is a huge problem. He's got to fix it or he's going to play himself into being an H-back.
