For those of you that have short memories,

Not too long ago (2007), we had Phil Fulmer coming off an an SEC east title, Bruce Pearl had the #1 Team in the nation, and Pat Summit had the indestructible lady vols in the middle of winning back to back titles....

We ran two of them out of town and the other has some how whittled down alot of what Pat Summit had built in just a few short years.

Sometimes folks, the grass isnt greener on the other side. We may never see a string of success like we had that year, again. I think during times like these we need to salute our previous eras and pray we get back to that one day.

we need to exercise the demons.

(only the long termers will get that last part) :hi:

It's interesting how we went from having such a great sports year in 07-08, to taking such a major step back in every major sport the next year

We forced Bruce to screw the pooch??

no but we coulda just taken the show cause 2 year ban. and we didnt go to the tournament anyway the next 2 years. So we couldve at least had a team primed and ready, he always recruited well.

We'd be up there with the blue bloods if we wouldve just stood by the guy.

hindsight is always 20 20 but when youve had one coach ever bring you to #1, you stand by him because we knew damn well we werent getting anyone else of his caliber anytime soon.

In 2007 fans were pissed that we lost UF and Bama by a combined score of 100-37. Set the tone for Fulmer's ouster in 2008. It wasn't all sunshine and roses.

The biggest factor in getting to the SEC title game that year? Luck.

Missed field goals by Kentucky and Vandy plus Lincoln getting two chances against South Carolina may well have delayed Fulmer's firing a year.

With this logic the N.C. team was just lucky and delayed cpf firing???
Thank you Kurt Stoner.

Do not confuse bad coaching with the craziness of college football.

Once you fly first class it’s really tough to go back to coach.

I just don't want to be where we've been for most of these last 10 years...a 5 hour flight from CA in 36B middle seat last row that won't recline and is next to the lavatory.

Reminiscing about the 2007 football team is pretty laughable. But damn do I miss Bruce. What could have been. Too bad he messed it all up.
