Only 50,000 season tickets sold per tos.

As long as the street value is low, the preseason sales will be low as well. I think instead of bigger stadiums we will see downsizing and more plush seating choices in the future. Pushing out "cheap" seats all together.

That could very well be the way things are headed, but if people already think the atmosphere in Neyland has taken a hit from 10-15 years ago, just imagine if they do that and price out the average joes once and for all. It's gotten expensive enough that it's tough for a middle class family to afford to get the season tickets, but IMO it will kill Neyland if they essentially convert gameday to a "corporate event".

I renewed my season tickets this week and add 4 too it, I had a hard time paying 80 for Fla. and Ala. I also bought my away game ticket for SC, funny they have had a better season then we have in the last couple of years and their ticket was only 60.00. how does that math make sense? The other issue with the season ticket issue is the people running the ticket office and the Tenn. fund are lost 90% of the time.

It is a pretty big investment to buy tickets, travel, stay the weekend to see a losing team. Losing to me is SEC teams basically, the easy games don't count as real wins as far as a team worth spending a lot of money on to see.
I hear you. I've been dancing along the fence since last season ended. I'm a long time season ticket holder who gave over 2x the donation required for my seats. So I cut my donation in half this year to stretch out my decision point. I still got offered the same seats. Got the $795 bill in the mail for the actual tickets and right now have decided not to re-up. Its a long drive for me, so on top of the tickets its about a $500 weekend. And I have other new toys I'd rather play with on those weekends.

This is no joke. Last year I figured it would be easier to go down to the TN Fund office and find out what seats they had available rather than have to do it over the phone. Huge mistake and massive waste of my time. My only guess is that people very rarely come into the actual office to handle their season tickets, so they don't keep an actual knowledgeable employee at the front desk. Basically the receptionist handed me the TN Fund brochure and that was about the extent of what she could do for me. Talking to one of the reps on the phone proved to be the much better option.

If ticket sakes cont to dwindle, that is the only way to go. No way they bring prices back down. And if they really cared about the place being loud again, they would not kick you out for standing. If you look around the new atmosphere is being created. It's only a matter of time.

I'm still hopeful that as some of the longtime ushers have to give up their places simply because they are too old to do the job, things might get better. Half the ushers in that place have one foot in the grave and another on a banana peel. I've never such a tiny amount of power go to someones head the way it does with UT ushers. They are basically there to help people who are confused find their seats and get the cops if things actually get out of hand. Part of their job description IS NOT coming over to me as I'm briefly talking to a friend near the concession tunnel at halftime, asking me where my seat is, and after I point to it, telling me "well you'd better go find it." That's completely uncalled for.

with a lower quality product and bad economy, the university needs to cut prices

Maybe so, but they certainly aren't going to do that. The quality of the product has absolutely no bearing on the price they will charge for tickets. UT has basically taken the stance that you can either pay it or stay home and that empty seats are better than discounted tickets.

Build it and they will come.

As long as CDD keeps building up the roster and program and more Wins come then this won't be a problem.

We still have 1 of the best and most loyal fanbases and attendence numbers in the country.

VFL...GBO!!!

any reference to stubhub, especially at this point, is useless

I should just kill my post. This should have been in the FL tickets are $80 thread. It had meaning there. Thanks for your reply to the meaningless post. Would that make your post meaningless too?

buy fla tickets on the street on gameday---less than $50.

Meh, would rather pay face value to someone before game day and not have to worry about it. The friend that is going with me is the one gator that I have met that isn't obnoxious and condescending. He is coming up from Atlanta and wants to experience game day in Knoxville. Would rather spend the time drinking (ah, non-alcoholic beverages for the under 21 crowd) than ticket shopping.

For those of you that are members of the Tennessee Fund, are you satisfied with how everthing works? Is it worth becoming a member for the parking benefits and such?

Where my wife and I screwed up was not getting the 2 lower level season tickets plus a parking pass for a $1k donation a couple of years ago. Parents of current students were getting postcards with that deal on them. Actually might jump on that deal if it comes around again.

It pays off in the long run. I've been a memeber since it started in 1986. I've never had issues getting tickets to any game I wanted to attend. I've moved parking all around and always gotten my request. Started in G-10 but then went to G-5. In G-5 is where I was able to meet up with players and coaches after the games. they would stop by for snacks / drinks. I now park in 9B because of hip issues. need a shorter walk.

By being in the Tennessee Fund, I've been able to meet a ton of football players over the years as well as coaches from the staffs. A lot of friends that I still maintain friendships with and commnciate with. Heard from Greg Adkins and Steve Caldwell just in the last few months.

Lot of friendships have been created within the athletic department, not just the football program. From the Fund to variosu support groups.

it opens a lot of doors. Not initially because there over10,000 donors and you have to work your way up the list. but 15-20 years down the road, many people in the program will know you. You move up list based on amounts and time given.

I started at $250 a year about 1984. I give a lot more now but get a lot more in return as well.

I'm pretty certain if you called, you can get 2 lower level seats for 1K today. North or SOuth endzone likely have seats available. Might be some in Section A.

Call and speak to Adam Wilgus. He will let you know options.
