Cool story bro. Too bad your dead wrong. His second year at Buffalo they regressed mostly due to him retooling the roster. They improved from there and were a ranked team this year. Fir whatever thats worth. Look at his teams style if play. They pointed teams to death and play great defense. Your reasons why he wouldn't succeed are awful and few. Illinois choising an Illinois native over leipold, isn't a sight on leipold. They wanted a proven name.
So, I want to make sure I've got this right. Illinois, which has never had a football program worth a damn, wants a proven name. However, Tennessee, which once had a consistent Top 10 national program in the toughest division in college football, should take a flyer on a totally unproven coach from a crap school like Buffalo?

Buffalo was 13-11 the 2 years before he got there. They were 13-23 his first 3 seasons there. Yes, he slowly built it up but he won't have that luxury here. He will have to build recruiting connections, retool the roster, and win over a skeptical fanbase. It took 4 years at Buffalo. You dont have that luxury in the SEC. You can't do slow builds in the SEC. The coaches who can get the most out of existing talent, retool the roster on the fly, get high level recruits in are the ones who succeed at new jobs in the SEC.

You may think I'm dead wrong but as of right now, all 65 P5 schools agree with me, even those as bad as Illinois.
If UT hired this guy from Buffalo as its new head coach, the Knoxville first responders might want to stay on permanent high alert. Fan reaction could make Knoxville quickly resemble the streets of Beirut.

The only 2 coaches to consider should be Lance leipold and like fickell. These are the two best coaches in the country that tennessee could afford. Tske a look at leipolds track record of successsnd Fickell has build a great program at Cincinnati.
Get the best...we have seen the result of going cheap. We CANNOT AFFORD to do otherwise. This is a huge money resource for Tennessee and not the time to go for less than the best available.

I'd have to give Chadwell a good hard look. Man, look at Chadwell's record, he has won big and turn down trotted programs around, North Greenville, a very small school yes but he turned them into winners, Charleston Southern and Coastal Carolina. What Chadwell achieved at Coastal is something I didn't think anyone would achieved at Coastal especially in that short period of time.

Lance Leipold would be the best coach we’ve had in awhile but he’s not a big name so the fan base wouldn’t be excited. WAYYYYY too much gets made about coaches being from the south or SEC for recruiting. If you’re a good coach or recruiter you can do it anywhere. Our best recruiting staff recently was comprised 70% of guys that came from Cincinnati.
I’d be excited if we did get Leipold but I don’t think it happens.
