Gullickson Named Director of Strength & Conditioning - University of Tennessee Athletics

I found this article one year ago almost. Everyone was complaining about our physical and strengthening of the players, in which they didn’t look so good. So, I’m wondering what will they look like 8 months from now? Can Pruitt get them in better physical conditioning? I think with his experience, and knowing what to do, he will have these guys stronger than last year. Coming from Alabama, those guys from there look big and physical within a year, when they sign with Alabama. Let them go to work in the weight room starting Jan. the 2nd...

I think our strength and cond. coach will come from the Alabama staff. They have one of the best in the country as SC coach. So i am sure there is one who is in learning under him that wants to go out on his own. I am pretty sure Pruitt will bring in a good SC coach.

Use the team photo posted at the start of last year... and compare that to anything they post next season. I think it will be easy to see the difference.

Well, I did 50 resiliency reps today, and this time last year I could only do 20, so...

Plus 15 leadership reps, a spice caramel mocha latte, 15 minutes of chakra, and a really bi***in' Haiku about transgendered rain drops.

Put me in Coach...I'm ready to play.

:)

Look at Jones' record during Dave Lawson's tenure and the record afterwards.

When he achieved some moderate success, Bruce thought he could dump the S&C coach that had been with him for years because he knew all of CBJ's insecurities that he shared with Lawson.

Karma's a biyotch, ain't it?

Fans always overrate the importance of the S&C coach.

You hear it every year "the players have never worked harder, they're losing fat and gaining muscle, we're going to win so many games!!!"

True success is coaching and talent.

Actually true success involves all aspects. The players have to build strength, which also increases their speed to some extent, and the coaches have to teach technique and call the plays with the greatest odds of being successful. Coaches also have to be able to know the strengths and weaknesses of their players and put them in good situations.

Is that why saban pays scott cochran over half a mill a year? Is that why there have been multiple article describing how cochran is the secret key to bama's success, because fans put too much into it?

If signing in, and leaving with out a good old fashion work out, is no longer tolerated-we should see some real gains.

Alabama's players are the best of the best coming out of high school. They are already bigger, stronger and faster than most college seniors. S&C can accomplish much, but not catching up to the top dogs. Should we be able to push the likes of Vandy and Mass. around? Absolutely. Let's start there.
