One thing I noticed at the end of the game..

Saturday which I think is a bright spot. Mind you, I don't know a whole lot about football as some on here may, plus I'm a female, but when the game ended Saturday, one of our players, and I don't even know if we were on offense or defense at the time, but you could tell he was so upset. I saw him take his helmet off, and I thought he was going to throw it on the ground. You could just tell how mad he was when the game ended. I think it's a good thing that these guys, or at least this one in particular was mad, and maybe sick and tired of losing. We the fans, feel frustrated, etc., but imagine how these players feel. Let's just get behind this team, and support them through the rest of this season, win or lose, and next year will be much better! GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!

Yeah..uh...I don't think that classifies as a bright spot..if they're ever not upset after a loss, then we have some very serious issues.

Yeah. That's the biggest stretch for a silver lining I've ever seen. If they weren't mad/upset, we'd have even more serious issues.

I understand and agree wit what you are saying. These players leave blood on the field of play while we sit and watch. Some have even gone so far as to be injured......for the rest of the season.

I guess my point I was trying to make is that this team hasn't given up yet, or at least I hope they haven't, and that they're just as frustrated, angry, or whatever as we are, and probably more so. We should not give up on them either regardless of how bad these next few games may be. This particular player that I saw was very upset, and I realize some people don't show as much emotion as others, but he was. Maybe they all need to play with a little more emotion?

Wait.. you mean the players and coaches have a heart? Good luck getting this fanbase to buy into that theory.

I think this is a great observation and a great point to make by onevolfan. There's no silver lining here. The players want to win. They're playing their hearts out to try and win. They believe that they can and should win. And when they don't win they are taking it hard and the pain and disappointment of it is real and plain to see.

These guys are winners and they're bringing that winning mentality back to Tennessee. Yeah yeah, mock if you like. I can already hear it. "How can they be winners if they don't actually win?!" Think what you like, but if you have ever done anything competitively in your life then you should understand that being a winner is as much about your mindset and is as much about believing that you belong there and that you are supose to win.

These players are winners. They know it. They believe it. You should know it and believe it too. Almost all of them could have gone to several other major college programs where the road to personal success would have been much easier. Look at Da'Rick Rogers as an example. It would have been easy for him to stay in his home state of Ga. and be a Bulldog and he would've been a superstar there. He believes in himself and he believes that he and his teammates are winners. He chose to come to UT to bring that winning mentality here. To be more than just a great player. He wanted to be a part of history by being a part of rebuilding this great tradition and great program. He knows that Coach Dooley and he and Hunter and Bray and all of the others can do it. The first step in winning is believing that you can win. It's believing that you are winners.

I've heard fans from other schools say that UT thinks it's a top tier program, but it's really just a middle tier team at best. The sports media has written us off and we've become just a side show novelty in the Lane Kiffen travelling circus. They say our head coach is a joke and will never lead this team to being anything more than an "also ran" program. Well I think that's a load of crap! I think those fans are scared. And if they aren't then they should be. I think their worst nightmare is if the University of Tennessee ever starts to believe in itself again. I think they're dreading the time when we do rise up and return to our winning tradition.This is the first time in a while that I've felt like this team feels certain that it will be back on top. This community, the Vol Nation, needs to believe in it as well. Believe you are a winner. Do the work to be a winner. And you will be a winner.

onevolfan- great observation and point! Winners hurt when they lose. Winners take it personally when they lose. I want those young men to have class and self control, but I want them to remember how bad that felt after that game. Because next year they're going to go down to UGA and tear those mutts' mother loving hearts out and that victory will be so much the sweeter for having endured this seasons loss.

Apparently some of you don't remember the shots on the sidelines in some previous year games of players smiling and having phone calls. Yes we were losing but these players were not thinking or caring if we won or lost. Losing is and should be a, gut wrenching, sicking, feeling that a player should show.

I thought it was good to see Bray go over and congratulate Simms on finishing that drive. Bray was genuinely proud and happy for him.

This is my first post since recovering from my fall off the Lane Train. I have been a VOL Fan for over 30 years. I, like most of you miss the hard nosed Tennessee football of the past. A strong running game, a tough defense, and a heart in every player to give his all for Tennessee. We were not always the most talented team on the field, but no matter who we played, we thought we could/would win. With me it's not always about winning, it's about playing tough football and leaving it all on the field. I continue to cheer on my VOLS but I await the return of real Tennessee Football.

Archie Manning had a "winning mentality" at New Orleans, that didn't help much.

I see what you're saying, and heart is definitely a good thing, but until we are as talented as our rivals and coached as well, 6-6 is our ceiling.
