So, I'm taking down some boxes to the truck because we're heading to Tennessee this weekend, and here comes old man Finney. He's in his 60's maybe 70's and always has an Alabama hat on and always smiling. In a creepy way. But the man loves to talk.

He asks me "Where ya headed?" I tell him "I'm moving with my uncle in Tennessee. My uncle has a job for me up there"

We get to talking about money, and eventually ends up talking about politics.

He asks me "Who you voting for?" I tell him, "I'm not 100% but so far I'm leaning towards Obama." His jaw drops and he stares a hole right through me. "Now why would you go and do that?" I tell him "Well, I don't think Bush is worth a damn and I don't think McCain is either"

The man turns red in the face, and starts bashing the Clintons, and Obama until he runs out of breath. It took everything in me not to knock this old man out cold. I told him "Look, you vote for who you like, and I'll do the same. Have a nice day"

I wasn't so angry that he was bashing Obama, I was mad that he was so upset. Why do people take up for politicians like they were their family? You don't know this guy personally, why the hell are you so mad? That is one thing I can NOT stand. When people get pissed and go off because you don't have the same opinion they do.

I swear, the 2 things that divide this country more than anything is religion and politics. You are who you are, I don't give a damn. Because I am who I am and don't expect anyone to give a damn either

He has probably fallen on hard times, and in those times he's just clinging to the politicians....out of ignorance...how many guns does he own, by the way?

In all seriousness...it does get old seeing people get so mad about the individuals. When it comes to the ideals...or how it might affect the country, then it becomes more understandable that people would get more passionate....it's easy to get passionate about the future of your country...

I don't think Bammer has had anything great happen in years, therefore he's just overall pissy about the whole situation.

He sounds like a guy that thinks he's gonna say that one thing that's gonna suddenly change the way you feel and think about everything. We've got nobody on this board that does that, do we BPV? :birgits_giggle:

I do want to say I think you handled the situation as nicely as you possibly could. And that is good to hear. Although, I find myself laughing everytime either candidate opens his mouth, I honestly think I'll be voting more on the VP! :eek:hmy: It McCain takes Romney, my vote is sealed.

Yea, why did that old man get so mad so easily? Good thing you held back all you had to prevent knocking him out cold.

Yeah, good job keeping your temper and not hitting the elderly chap. Can't understand why someone would get mad discussing politics.

BTW you really should vote for JM instead of BO. The old mans right.

Hey! Now that is not true, we'd be on the floor if Chris Rock would have said it too :)
