One thing Dooley must do, that the former staff did.

Dooley must continue to get UT's name out there. Bad publicity or not, Kiffin was able to get UT's name out there and sale the program not only on the staff but also on that UT played in the SEC, a pro type environment, great facilities, and tradition.

Kiffin had ample financial support to execute a successful national recruiting strategy. It is obvious that LK and staff were going to land and great class. It is obvious that UT can recruit on a national level if it continues to build, develop, market, and exploit the brand.

LK was smart, wagging war in the State of Georgia. LK's priority for regional recruiting was primarily Georgia. Atlanta was the hot bed, being only 3 hours away and home to the media it platformed his cause throughout the state of Georgia. It didn't hurt that we had a Georgian, Eric Berry, to show the success one can enjoy at UT.

If Majors, Fulmer, and Kiffin have all enjoyed success recruiting on a national level, why abandon the effort?
Dooley is obviously a bright young coach who has had most of his experience under Saban who has been successful recruiting regionally. But as pointed out by many, this has been in the talent rich areas of Louisiana and Alabama. It isn't as difficult to build and maintain a regional brand when you have a captive audience. Time will tell, but it is imperative that Dooley bring UT back to national exposure or UT will continue to slowly fade.

If Lane were still here in less than 2 we would be on probation or known as secondary violation.

I don't think X really sold Tennessee tradition...maybe ex USC tradition? And I don't think we have to worry about DD filling his classes with a lot of Tennessee HS players. He'll stalk the southeast hot spots and branch out when necessary.

Dooley is getting the Tennessee name out there properly. On a plane flying all over the country getting us some recruits. He doesnt talk like Kiffin. Dooley "Stopped the Yappin and is Making it Happen Cap'N". lol

I prefer to get our name out there by winning and recruiting well...in the living rooms. Chizik kept his mouth shut last year and got his team to the Outback Bowl...oh, and he was beating UT in recruiting even when X was here. I'd much rather rebuild our program like that.

Everybody gets secondary violations, everybody! UT 's received national attention because CLK made comments to get attention and it worked. He had people talking about Tennessee again whether people liked it or not. I am tired of all the bashing on the guy. He took his dream job. The only thing I didn't like was Coach O calling recruits. If CLK were still here, evdrone would be talking about his top 5 recruiting class and notsecondary violations or probation. The HostessGate thing was ridiculous and would result in no more than a secondary violation, maybe.

Boom! Talk about hitting the nail on the head.. You are absolutely correct sir

People on here might not have been saying we were gonna end up on probation when kiffy was here but everyone at least had it in the back of their mind. It would have eventually happened.

As the saying goes in NASCAR "If you ain't bumpin', you ain't racin". If you don't stretch the rules, you'll get left behind in the SEC recruiting wars. EVERYONE does it. I wish CDD was a little more outspoken, but not as brash about it as Kiffin was. If you're not being talked about, you're forgotten.

This guy obviously doesn't follow recruiting that closely.

Enough about Lane already.

No Way! I understand what he was trying to do when he was here but with a new change in staff, new changes need to be made all around.

Kiffin may have been our pr_ _k and we tolerated it but his true character didn't come out till he left .And anybody that can't see that probably needs to move on with him. When he talked about our yellow jerseys whats that about. There are plenty of coaches that don't have to insult other coaches to get our name out there. The reality is Kiffin is a 33 yr old PUNK.We have a man on board with character look at his blood line. Lets build it back with character and Ws and let golden boy move on in a few years to his next dream job.

I'll give you that it was clever, cute and rhymed, but it isn't true.

I have posted something similar to this before but I'll do it again....CAN WE PLEASE STOP TALKING ABOUT KIFFIN!!!!!!

OK, he left us high and dry for the sunny beaches of California (SO WHAT)

Kiffin helped generate a buzz at UT that really hadn't been around since 2001, ok we were all cool with getting these secondary violations as long as we weren't put on probabtion. We were all ok with his arrogant personality, like I told my father, he was an a-hole but he was our a-hole. Now he is just an a-hole.

Also, he's gonna win games at USC, alot of games. Shoot he may go to the Rose Bowl this year but we all need to face facts, he left an up and coming program for a Top 3 program (Bama, Florida, SC)

No one complained about the (what did people call us?) USC east? Remember when most of you were so happy that we were getting the next Mike Williams or Reggie Bush or Lendell White....I do, cause I was excited too. We didn't care if it wasn't going to be the next Peerless Price, Willie Gault or Stanley Morgan. We didn't care that it was Chuck Webb,Reggie Cobb, or Jamal Lewis.....we just wanted to win and it didn't matter how we did it.

Well folks now we have a man who is telling recruits about Tennessee traditions and players. Telling them about being the next Eric Berry or Peyton Manning and thats who we should embrace. We were duped and now we all have our guard up, we're Elin Woods. Our superstar savior left us for his slutty mistress and we're ready to bust out his windows with a 6-iron.

Lets move on and talk about Derek Dooley and not worry about whats going on out west, cause trust me they'll make more headlines soon enough when the NCAA comes to town.

The one main thing that I did not agree on with the last coach was his method of "getting the UT name out there". The guy was a fool and a total embarrassment to UT. Bad publicity is not the way to get the name out there IMO.
