One question concerning last nights game..

This conversation isn't even really about Wingate; it's just about our gigantic glaring weakness, which is a lack of size up front. LSU exploited that last night. Playoffs have a way of bringing weaknesses up into the bright and ugly glare of the klieg lights.

I went to a Ravens game in December with a friend of mine. He spent the whole game crowing about how great their defense was, but at one point he pointed out their #2 cornerback and said, "That guy's our one weak spot. Everybody else on the defense is great and usually does a good job of covering for him, but he really does suck." And sure enough, on a day a few weeks later when the Colts' offense really couldn't do very much else, Manning found a way to exploit that one guy on a few critical plays.

Our basketball team's lack of size up front is the same kind of thing. If you have decent big men, all you have to do to beat Tennessee is throw it inside and pound the glass. LSU exposed that badly last night, and depending on what our matchup is, I wouldn't be shocked to see it happen again next week. We're just not big enough up front right now. Major Wingate was certainly not a Patrick Ewing; hell, he wasn't even really a Dyron Nix. But he at least he was tall.
