How is it that Big Baby was able to keep posting up underneath the basket all night long with the easy put backs.Either we had no answer at all or he had to have been fouling some to get such good position?Thoughts?

We start a 6'7" Freshman Center who isn't all that physical and a 6'4" Power Forward who is actually an injured Point Guard. Any questions?

I really wasn't payin attention down low, but the commentators(take it for what it's worth) said that Big Baby was using angles to get the boards. So I guess he was just in the position to make it happen. The few times I seen him in the paint getting a rebound, it looked like he was getting the job done, legally.

He got good position a lot of times...but it seems to me that the 3second call gets longer and longer each year.

A little of both. There were times were he was pushing Crews all over the court and there were times where Crews/Chism didn't have a clue what to do. The thing that bothers me is the little touch fouls on Davis. When he would get a rebound and go back up we would just slap at him and he would get an easy basket and a foul. If you are going to foul someone, make sure that they don't get the shot off.

That probably had a little something to do with it.

From my vantage point, about 15 rows up from the LSU basket in the second half, Glen Davis was going over the back quite a bit to get the boards, and the refs weren't calling it. There were also uncalled 3-second violations and travels.

However, once he got the rebound, Chism and/or Crews and/or Childress were very ineffective in preventing him from taking it to the hoop. They just slapped his arms instead of going for ball.

Think how good this team would have been if someone would have hidden Wingate's Bong from him.

Other words , since you were there in person,my point that Big Baby was fouling for position but not getting called seems to be validated.Thanks.

I might not have said this a year ago, but I feel with Wingate we probably end up winning the SEC reg seasons this year. But as they say, if ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all look like Big Baby (last year).

During the last 7 minutes of the game, the entire UT section started giving it to Valentine. We spent more time shouting out the no-calls that we could see easily from 50 feet than cheering.

Moral of the story: in the SEC tournament, if you don't have a true center, you are done. The refs swallow their whistles and let the teams slug it out.

Pearl is going to have to get a true center on the roster to have any hope of winning an SEC Tourney title.

This all being said, I think we will have better officiating in the NCAA Tourney, and I think we will go farther as a result.

Let's hope! I know we are small but fiesty. We did manage to win over 20 games with their play.

I love how getting kicked off the team has turned Wingate into Patrick Ewing in some people's minds.

No kidding. How easily people forget the way he used to go entire halves without getting a single rebound. He played perhaps the shortest 6'11" that I've ever seen.

He had his moments, the WSU game for instance. He played his best game when it mattered most.

I don't think that it is so much that people think he is Patrick Ewing, but the fact that it is a somewhat competent 6'11" player to play down low.

He was either on or off.Without Wingate I don't think we would have won the game at Florida last year. But who knows, when Lofton came back we whipped em bad up here.

No blood, no foul. I knew we were in trouble if the Zebras didn't blow the whistle. We don't have the size and muscle to play that type of ball.
