That was the true definition of rumbling stumbling. That play and I think Westmoreland or Thompson had a play vs Vandy that same year that just sticks in my memory foreverShaun Ellis in 98. He was a first round pick who played over a decade in the league so not really a One Play Wonder guy, but that was a good one that was kinda the difference in the game
Chris Ramseur scored a defensive TD against Vandy IIRC. He was a nice looking linebacker who got kicked off the team before he had a chance to start. No

Good question!Who are some UT football players that didn't necessarily have stellar college careers, but will forever be remembered for one iconic play? Guys like Jeff Powell, who was a phenomenal athlete, but didn't have eye-popping stats. He will forever be remembered for his TD run against Miami. James Banks had tons of potential, but his one big contribution was the Hail Mary grab against Florida before half-time. Marquez North had a respectable career, but I will always associate him with the sideline catch against SC to set up the game-winning FG.
We were in the front row behind the goal posts for that game. He ran straight towards us and we were screaming our heads off for him to RUUUUNNN! and avoid getting tackled. Points were hard to come by that day.Help an old guy out…., the 80-90 yard fumble return at Auburn. Who, what year?
Darrin Miller's near 100 yard TD return after intercepting a pitch in the Iowa backfield in the 1987 Kickoff Classic.
Probably also the longest play in Tennessee history in terms of the time it took because Darrin wasn't the fastest guy around.
Never figured out why Bryson didn’t have really big years carrying the ball. He was a big kid and one of the fastest players on the team.I don't consider Shawn Bryson a one hit wonder by any means, but as a true fullback he didn't see many touches. He only had 200 yards in 1998, but 57 of them came right up the gut against the Gators.
I actually remember him catching a pass once. I think it was a touchdown and, I think it was against Arkansas when the ball bounced every which way it could for us in the high scoring blowout!Leonard Scott kickoff return for a TD (don’t recall the opponent). I thought he was gonna set records after that with his track speed. Not sure he got past the 30 yard line ever again. Definitely a one hit wonder
There was an embarrassment of riches in that backfield...Jamal Lewis and Henry were 1a & 1b, Stephens was 3rd string. I think Bryson actually volunteered to move to fullback rather than be 4th stringNever figured out why Bryson didn’t have really big years carrying the ball. I think that was due to the type of offense installed over a decade earlier. We had many great fullbacks over that time frame that didn’t get many carries; Howard, Poles, Phillips, Amsler etc. some of them actually played TB.Never figured out why Bryson didn’t have really big years carrying the ball. He did and he was one of the fastest players on the team. He saved us in the SEC Championship game when he ran down a defensive player who had intercepted a pass and saved a TD and the game. There was an embarrassment of riches in that backfield...Jamal Lewis and Henry were 1a & 1b, Stephens was 3rd string.
