.... & in 3 of those 5 games, we had a chance in the final minutes ... I think we held tough against Florida, and Bama was admirable but offense played horribly.

True bud, it's Sad our Defense is what it is. We should without a Doubt be 5-3 at this point.

The problem lies in worrying about what could be. Stick to what is, and fix it.-- The offense jumped out to a lead on NCSU. Then our defense played like it could. Sacks and turnovers. We win fairly easy. The offense bogged down in every other game early. No confidence for the defense. No gauranteed passing to try and catch up by the other team. So our defense got exposed for what it is. Small and not physical. Not too hard to see what happened next. If we get an early lead we can play some ball. But we are not dominant and physical on D and we can not shut anyone down all game. We have our flashes, but not dominant. That is why I have a problem with the offense as well as the defense. We accumulate good offensive stats by games end but we are not a dominant on O by any means. We need to come out and score early and often to give THIS team a chance to win ball games. Coming back is too hard and everything must go right to make it happen. Almost ain't good enough.

If better is there then get it. Go after Bellichek. Green Bays head coach. A proven winner would be great. Hard to argue that.

Glad we agree. And since there are hundreds of coaches out there more proven than Dooley, what are we waiting for?

We have the worst defense in the history of UT and people are saying give Dooley more time. Wow... :ermm:

3yrs is reasonable patience to see signs of improvement in the W/L column. Continuing with 4-5yrs of .500 or lower football is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. UT couldn't even fight for 4qtrs through the UF game this year, year 3! I like Dooley but he's gotta go. I wish I could get a $2mil job that I'm not qualified for and get to learn as I go. I don't understand the emotional investment some people have with Dooley. He isn't Fulmer. He hasn't been here for 30yrs. He was hired to do a job and he's failed. It happens. Lets move on.

The recruiting list is not where it should be. A lot of that is due to the heat on the seat. The uncertainty of the situation makes recruiting difficult

Another part to the recruiting list not being where we want it to be is because we can no longer offer immediate playing time for freshmen.
If you were a high school All-American, would you rather play special teams for two seasons, then be a substitute your junior season and a starter your senior season at Alabama or LSU or would you rather go to U.T. and start as a freshman?
Other than tailback and defensive back, I see no area in which an All-American can come in next season and have significantly as a freshman...

-There is a significant percentage that have been opposed to Dooley since day 1. If UT won the SEC and lost in the BCS NC game to go 13-1, they would be all over him for not "winning the big one."

Seriously? No one expected anything in year one...fans expected a more competitive team not one that quit at halftime in season 2....what about losing to Kentucky with a WR at QB? Then Dooley himself said, "Your not going to have Tennessee to kick around anymore!" Well 0 for a career here against the teams that are kicking us around....that is all on him.

-The NC State game this year was a good win. It also created unrealistic expectations for the rest of the season. When those unrealistic expectations reverted to reality, the disappointments were manifest into more hate and discontent.

The NC State game was a good win. This was the year we had the veteran team and Florida did not. We had them at home...the team had so much swagger against NC State and played lights out...it was how we lost that game that killed the fan base....more quitting and no fighting.

I agree about recruiting but blame Dave Hart for not making it clear to the VolNation if he is staying or going.

-No other team in college football has faced the gauntlet of a schedule that UT has faced. It won't get easier in 2013 so the team has to improve a lot.

We have faced alot of top teams that is for sure. But at some point this staff has to come up with some way to guide these kids to at least one victory over one of them. For God's sakes man Arizona beat USC this weekend...NC State beat Florida State....Washington beat Oregon State. Teams find ways to pull off upsets....why the hell can't we? The sun shines on a dog's @$$ once in a blue moon.
