One page of posts. Beloved Grizzlies.

AlphaGriz lost all credibility when he predicted that Kentucky would beat us this year. Talk about a rediculous statement, that's one.

He also predicted the SEC wouldn't win a playoff system for the NC. Stated we hide in the bowl system because it is the only way we can beat OOC opponents. I really hope he is at the game.

You shouldn't. The guy's obviously a lousy drunk.

Yawn. Again, check your facts before spouting off. This is from July 2010 when they were working on getting the game.

Any Volunteers?

There have been some rumors floating around that the Montana Grizzlies will travel to play Tennessee to open the 2011 football season. Well, a source of mine says the deal is as good as done. Good ol' Rocky Top!

Griz AD Jim O'Day has told me in the past that the football team would not play an "up game" unless the money was right. Why would they go on the road, get beat, and only make $200,000? They can make that kind of coin easily on any given Saturday at Washington-Grizzly Stadium when they line up a patsy like Western State or Fort Lewis.

Win or lose, my guess is that the Griz are going to be laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

UPDATE (7/23 - 12:44 p.m.) -- I received word that the Griz will earn $500,000 for making the trip to Knoxville. It's a little bit less than what they got from Iowa in 2006, but still - it's definitely a huge payday for UM's athletic department. When a team comes calling with that kind of money, it's usually a no-brainer.

Montana will receive a $500,000 guarantee, plus help with additional expenses from Tennessee. It will be the second largest guarantee in school history, as UM received $650,000 for its game at Iowa in 2006.

YOU might not think you need the money but your AD sure does. Go sit down back at the kiddy table

You can spin it anyway you want it, but the fact remains that a home game is worth more than UT is paying us to play. This is NOT about a paycheck. I find it funny that someone who has no clue about what Montana football is about can be so bold. And before you try and spout off again, think....and then don't. You will just continue to sound foolish. 650K vs 1 million....maybe you are on the Canadian cash exchange program? Montana wants to play the big boys....why not accept it for what it is. The money is nice, but a home game would've brought us more.

Yes its two different topics but in the end its all about the athletic department Your say you dont need the money but your AD states football breaks even and they're looking for additional sources of revenue. If fb is breaking even then running all the way across country to play in the blazing hot Knoxville heat in Sept is stupid.....unless the $500k is a needed help. The only person that thinks youre financially ok is you. Not your AD, not your students, not the people who get paid to report on the UM athletic department. Only you.

Citing sources to back what I say isnt being an "internet tough guy". Its adding proof. Sorry you dont have anything to back up your points. It must be nice living in your world of rainbows and unicorns.

6.5 million for 6 home games in revenue vs 650K for a road game in TN.....do the math.

......Mike Hamilton should be arrested for scheduling this stupid game....who knew Montana had a college much less a team.......

uh failure. Really like how he pointed out that he was reading volnation and made a comment and then said nobody cares what we say on our boards.

Griz fans, just stick to the little league world series and grab some pride in your state...at least it's a double elimination tournament.

Yeah, with Montana coming off one of it's worst seasons in a quite a few years, they are still ranked #91 by Sagarin, while N Texas is #154. Montana is a better team to help your BCS rankings.

Yep, and that's really all Montana can bring to Neyland Stadium: (1) a guaranteed win for UT, and (2) .0002 points in the BCS multiple.

Not like us to look a gift horse...or bear...in the mouth. We'll take it. As you so accurately pointed out, we're rebuilding. Any win will do at this point. We'll work our way up to the Appalachian States, Delawares, and Vanderbilts. But for now, #91 will do.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate.

Oh...using Sagarin's system, UT would be a 15 point favorite. Last I heard, most lines have us at -18 1/2. That would seem to indicate that most think we win by less than 21.

Any Griz fans want a piece of that? If Freak or GAVol will agree to hold the PayPal transfers, I could probably be coerced into taking UT at -20.

Griz fans...here's your chance to really hit me where it hurts.....

I'm sure there are some classy Griz fans, but after reading the homophobic drivel of A-Griz, and his small band of nut-licker followers, I'm beginning to have my doubts.

No wonder he was banned here. Complete lack of class.

Please, PLEASE do not consider Alpha a representative of Griz fans. The vast majority of us can't stand him either, and I'm of the opinion that anyone who agrees with him is simply Alpha posting under another screen name.

Believe me, Griz fans are -- by and large -- about the classiest fans you'll meet. We're proud of our football program (as any good fan would be), and we do think we'll bring a game to Neyland. But in any event, most of us treat other fans with respect.

Looking forward to the trip and the game, and shaking hands with and buying a few beers for Vol fans!

Go GRIZ!

(and FWIW, I think a line at 18 or 19 is about accurate).

I have never said UT was rebuilding, just pointing out that Montana is actually an upgrade to your schedule.

Think I was going to sit by and let someone say N Texas was a better opponent when they aren't?

Lighten up Francis.

LOL, this is the first time I've seen this. The last part...
I just hope that Tennessee doesnt come out of this game to banged up and dont have any serious injuries in what will be the most physical game they play in all year.
...is what really got me. Seriously?

I don't have anything against Montana at all, but I hope we beat the hell out of them...just for this ALPHAGRIZ1 dude.

And another one. Although I do think you made reference in a previous post to UT being either rebuilding or not being as dominate as we once were. Both of which would be accurate statements, as you are aware.

Any of you homos call me Francis, and I'll kill ya'.....

SeaGriz, I'm actually okay with you and Ordigger. I also believe in friendly banter between opposing fans, which includes the requisite amount of humor regarding the team, the mascot, the fans, the cheerleaders, and up to but not including the sexual orientation and preferences of the fans; coaching staff; and AD.

For example, it would be unpukka for a Montana fan to talk about how family trees do not fork in Tennessee, much as it would be for a UT fan to suggest that there's a reason why all the sheep in Montana are so friendly.

I'm just sayin'....

Hmmm...Montana gets 650k for traveling to Tennessee to get the "Deliverance Treatment".

Whoever did that math must have loose morals. Or a penchant for a little bit of Prison Love here and there...

:eek:lol:

Just kidding.
