for you VOL fans to put up with me. Next Tuesday night, I will be in Knoxville staying at the Crown Plaza hotel. I leave from there on Wednesday to goto Ft. Benning where I will begin my Basic Combat Training for the US Army. Then, on August 10th, I remain at Ft. Benning to start Officer Candidate School.

It's been fun reading most of your posts. Of course, I think most of you are crazy but what do you expect coming from a rival?

I have a hard time believing I will have much time to watch alot of football next fall. I have a feeling I will be missing of drama from both of our respective teams.

Good luck guys! You are gonna need it.

When did the moratorium on officers from AL end?

We're doomed.

Good luck with your endeavors TF.

You'll not want to see the UT/Bama results next year anyway.

Good luck, TideFan1.... off the gridiron, of course.

Thank you for your service!

As a SSgt. in the USAF I can kinda understand what you are about to go through...good luck. Im soon to graduate but will not be signing on again as an officer. At least you were smart enough to go OCS.

P.S. Your team still sucks.

I'm actually from GA.

Everybody has obstacles in life to overcome. Keep your chin up and you can get both the Bama loyalty and GA upbringings behind you.

Overcoming such challenging socio-economic conditions will only make folks respect you that much more. :)

Thank you for your service. :hi: I was an Army Brat raised in Columbus GA. I spent much time at Ft. Benning. As a kid growing up in West Georgia you were either an Auburn or Bama fan. Then Herschel game along and UGA fans came out of the woodwork never to return.

Actually, I'd have to admit that Disney World is pretty darn American. Epcot? :dunno:
my two cents on florida americana- 17 yrs old hanging out at the beach drinking slurpees with your friends before going to a spring training game and buying beer with a fake ID (all while cutting a day of hs) then taking your best girl out to steak n shake, a movie, and a little turtle-doving. as long as that stays intact I say we're doing okay.

That's not bad at all... I could use 17 years of that lifestyle.

Good luck tidefan and thanks. You will find OCS to be as rewarding as it is challenging. You will also meet some of the finest people in the world. Most UT fans say they can't stand Bama, but those of us who remember the Bryant years still have respect.
