Heupel has already got two 10 win seasons. Only Bill Battle had that many so early on in his tenure. He's already beaten Bama twice.H e's already beaten Florida twice, Fulmer only beat them 4 time his entire tenure. He hasnt beat Georgia but I suspect he will take care of that next season when they come to Knoxville. He's got a NY6 bowl victory and put UT in talks for national championship contender.

The one thing left that I see is to win a big road game against top competition. Tennessee hasn't beaten a top10 team on the road in 19 seasons. He's proven he can beat very good teams if he has the help of the home crowd but he has to prove he has the coaching chops to win the big games on the road. He has his chance right in front of him.

I never expected Tennessee to win a CFP game this year because I didn't think the offense was where it needs to be. I thought if we had a home game we could get it done but never a true road game. This would be Heupel's chance to put that question to bed in my mind and make him one of the top coaches UT has ever had.

By any chance, do you own a plumbing and electrical supply store in Franklin?

Winning on the road is hard. Everyone wants to nail Heupel for it, but he still has top 25 wins against LSU and Oklahoma. Considering Tennessee still isn't in the top 15 for blue chip ratio, I think he is doing just fine. Look at Bama. They lost to us, Oklahoma and Vandy on the road. Its not easy. And Heupel has only had one season so far where his starting QB played more than one season for him. It makes a huge difference on the road.

He is already one of the great Tennessee coaches. He brought us from the bottom of the pit of despair. He is always just one play away from some on here wanting him fired.
No one wants him fired. But he has to stop getting beat by a team that shouldn't be on the same field with us. It happens every year

We had 1 great coach, the stadium is named after him.

I think he does a great job of taking advantage of games in Neyland but he does need to establish a road advantage, especially in the SEC at night to become a great coach.

Tennessee is a winning program right now but not yet a dominant program. We can be.
With all due respect, very few, and it's a short list of coaches, establish road advantages at this level

At this point, JH is probably ranked 4th or 5th best head coach in the history of UT.

Give him a little more time and we will see.

He has to win championships. At least the SEC. All of our best coaches did. Until Georgia recently passed us, only Bama had more SEC Championships than we did.

Fulmer wouldn’t last long if he coached in the SEC today.

What ever the speech was when we went to LSU is the one he needs to give before this game.

Go Vols!

The thing with Josh is his age. He’s at an age that if he can eliminate the bad road losses, and get into Championship games, then this guy could have one hell of a tenure at UT.

Good grief. He's in year #4. Way too early to start an "all time great" discussion. I know there's not much to talk about right now, but geez.
