One Day Out!

Real key is pretty simple. Joey needs to connect downfield early to establish a deep threat. Once that is there, our star RBs will begin gashing the run game. If our defense can hold them a few series, then it will be hard for them to get back momentum in Neyland.

Key is credible deep threat - then they dont stack the box and give our RBs space. That was the problem with Milton and Nico. Neither were reliable on deep balls so teams were able to come up and shut down our run game.

If we get to clicking, I am not worried about what GA does in scoring. They will not catch up.

The gap between these teams is definitely smaller than in years past.

UGA - Bobo and the offense have been super vanilla and will have the playbook opened up for more creative and easy/set throws for Stockton. Their OL has been banged up, but all presumed starters are expected to play, and I expect them to be a little better. The defense is elite again, and expect some more exotic blitzes and pressures to come for Joey and our OL. I expect Stockton to run quite a bit tomorrow as well.

UT - not having CB1 or CB2 is a blow, but our reserves are more serviceable than before (Hood and Redmond are good players). I expect them to target Redmond or McMurray/Carter early. Joey has been great against soft coverage from the past two teams - UGA will not play soft coverage and he will need to make the throws necessary to get them rattled. Need the defense to bend but not break like they have in the second half of most UGA games.

Summary - If Tennessee can get up early, I think Georgia is in a little trouble. Believe it or not, Carson Beck is likely a better QB and can put a team on his back. Not saying Stockton can't do that, but we haven't seen it yet. I reluctantly can't trust Heupel to defeat the scheme from Smart that clearly has his offense in a bind year in and year out. I've got UGA winning 27-23 but I hope I'm wrong.

Good assessment. Thoughts on your wr's vs our dbs? We will likely put our dbs in press man with over the top help.

UT has scored first in the last 4 games. I expect similar production early but our defense should stiffen. Comes down to the 4th quarter in my opinion.

Morning Vol Nation! We're just one day out! After what feels like an emotional rollercoaster of a week, it'll be a welcome escape to dive into some classic, hard hitting SEC football. The nerves are building, uncertainty is swirling in every thought, but that flicker of hope is starting to shine through. I have no clue how it'll play out, but I do know it'll be electric seeing our boys battle it out on the field. Let's kick off the weekend right! As always, I appreciate the hospitality from y'all in Vol country, but now it's time to drop the niceties and get real. Hit me with your keys to the game for Tennessee, your unfiltered hate for Georgia, and anything else you want to throw at a Dawgs supporter (I can take it). I'm praying for a close, hard-fought battle with no injuries—and, of course, a UGA dub!

My thoughts;
Keys for Georgia to Win:
- Stout Defense: Georgia's defense needs to contain Tennessee's explosive offense. Pressuring QB Joey Aguilar and limiting big plays from RBs Thomas and Bishop will be crucial. Can our young secondary step up?
- Protect the QB and Establish the Run: I know this is obvious. With Gunner Stockton making his first SEC road start, the banged-up right side of the offensive line must hold up. Leaning on RBs Nate Frazier and Chauncey Bowens to control the clock and set up play-action passes could wear down Tennessee's defense. Look out for RB Phillips #20 he is electric. Can Branch win in the slot or can Bobo get TE's matched up on LBs?
- Force Turnovers and Win the Trenches: Georgia's depth and talent advantage shines here—linebackers need to disrupt plays and create opportunities for the offense. Who wins the turnover battle?

Keys for Tennessee to Win:
- Home-Field Energy and Explosive Offense: Again obvious but Neyland's atmosphere is a game-changer. Tennessee's offense must capitalize with big plays from JA and a successful run game to outpace Georgia. Can you stop GA from getting pressure with DLs only?
- Pressure Stockton and Disrupt the Run: The Vols' defense needs to exploit Georgia's offensive line issues and force mistakes from Stockton. Getting Josephs in mismatches with RT and Carter has freedom to hunt. Will UT have to utilize a spy to stop Stockton's legs?
- Depth and Emerging Talent: With QB concerns on both sides (mainly us), Tennessee's ability to control pace, rotate players, and maintain intensity could tip a close game. Can you stay on time to stop D substitutions and control tempo?

Once again thanks for he hospitality. Go Dawgs!
Not sure where you live in Georgia, if you even do. If Tennessee does win, and you see someone running through your neighborhood wearing checkered overalls, and singing Rocky Top tomorrow night, it's me. I plan on doing a statewide tour, starting in northeast Georgia where I am🤣

I have to answer this every year. Came here in 04 cause my family are UT fans. My disabled little brother was having a hard time getting handicap tickets. Kiddiedoc, LIO, and Volfreak helped us get in touch with the ticket office and get it sorted. He went to the home opener in 05 against UAB. Fulmer wrote him letters, sent pics of the team etc. I have come back every year since to have fun and show my appreciation.
How are you not a TN fan?

Bulldog born, and Bulldog bred. Ill be a Bulldog till the day I'm dead. My little bro became a UT fan because y'all absolutely dominated us in the 90s and he loved to get under my skin. My mother, in her wisdom, decided she would join the dark side. Makes for great fall Saturdays and maybe an uncomfortable Sunday dinner.

My assessment: over 4 hour game, 25 stoppages consisting of 10 fake injuries. 5 reviews for targeting and 10 for video review. Can’t wait

I don’t recall Georgia “Kiffining” during a game against Tennessee, but if a Georgia player flops to halt play, I hope the officials flag it.

Yeah, there was never a choice in the matter for me either. My dad has been buying season tickets for longer than Josh Heupel, Danny White, or myself have been alive and I am proud of that.

Turnabout is healthy. I was lucky enough to start going to UT games in the 90’s and honestly I was quite spoiled.. To the point where instead of appreciating how good to Vols were, I felt sorry for the teams we beat. If TN becomes a perennial top 10 team again, I won’t be naive enough to worry about how other teams feel. Enjoy it while it’s present.

Georgia has traditionally attacked us with short passes (primarily to Tight End) trying to take advantage of speed against our secondary (or players out of position). I think Georgia may try that again. However, if Gunner Stockton is struggling again, who knows how that will go.

Georgia will also try to use its DBs to cover 1-on-1. I do think Georgia can win those fights.

Tennessee has been quiet with its TEs in the first two games but I heard a lot of positives about them in the off season. I am wondering if this is what Heupel is coming back and it could be a way to get midfield passing without having players around those dangerous DBs.

Tennessee's O-line has been a pleasant surprise so far, let's see how it fairs against Georgia's talented DL.

Interestingly, Tennessee has a good offense so far but Georgia has a good defense to match while Georgia has questions on offense and Tennessee has some questions on defense (and injuries) as well.

Eye test. Thats what has me nervous. I am banking on the not showing to much and playing backups for playing time as my counter. Kirby however has proved me wrong with early season eye test in the past.
I have been a huge Vol fan for 60 years. However, I am also a realist, when I think about who will win/lose. I believe Georgia's average score (victory) the past 4 years is something like 41-10. I am going to hope for a monumental upset but I am taking Dawgs and giving the points. I am picking a 35-13 Dawg win, in my pool.

Mike Matthews has to have a statement type game Saturday.

Tennessee has to create chunk plays to get free yards

And don’t quit on the run game to early

I think Kirby has been sandbagging like he always does, but the key here will be Stockton imo. I’m curious to see if Banks draws up a similar game plan to the one he used against Milroe. Take away Gunner’s legs and force him to throw. We’re missing our starting cb’s, but the back-ups are quite good themselves. Aguilar will have to shine in order for the Vols to pull it off imo. UGA’s defense will be a tough out.

I agree. Stack the box, shut down the run and force Stockton to make the deep throws. If he is legit then you go out on your sword/
