I started watching tenn. football during the doug dickey era. Bill battle was the worst recruiter tenn. ever had, but he won the most games with the least talent that I have ever seen! He would have a winning season with just 1 or 2 good players!

Gman, from'86 to 98 we had tough, smashmouth football. I agree we got soft after'98. When did Stucky leave as our S&C coach?

John Stucky, who as head of Tennessee's strength and conditioning program in the 1990s helped lift Volunteer football to a national championship level, died Thursday night in Springdale, Ark. He was 59.

Stucky officially resigned from his UT position as assistant athletics director for physical development in June 2002 because of continuing medical problems.

I don't recall the players name but one was quoted as saying he had to play hard for if he didn't he had to go to the sidelines and deal with Al (Wilson).

John Ward didn't just set the standard, he WAS the standard.

My opinion, of course.

I would love to see John come back to call the season opener to be part of the rebuilding. Nukeese is at the 50 the 40 the 30,25, 20, 15, 10, 5... give him 6 TOUCHDOWN!! Big Orange.

Because he is a frontrunner, I have seen him in a Red Sox cap for God sakes, he couldn't even commit to marriage for more than 2 months.

Yeah, he's a helluva country singer, and a local boy, but ever since that crap with Tim Tebow on stage, I've considered Kenny to be the "village idiot that went national".

I sent every CD I had with his name on it to the local landfill.

Sorry, Kenny, but you just don't do that. Turn in all your UT stuff. I no longer consider you a Vol.

Go Vols.

Bill Dance, you might not like his fishing show (I dont) or think he is the best fisherman (I dont). But he bleeds orange and white. Most famous "Hat" in the outdoors.

Yeah, Bill is a Vol right down to the bone. I have a clip from YouTube of some funny outtakes from his show. I've watched it probably 20 times, and still laugh till I hurt every time.

Go Vols.

Over the past 30+ years it is quiet possible that Bill Dance and his TN hat is perhaps the most recognizeable supporter of the Vols. Bill may no longer be on TV like he once was but people still remember him.

I grew up in west Tennessee, back when Majors still got players out of there, I didn't know that any other school was in the state until I was 10. Bill Dance was my favorite.
