OK so why wasnt he fired after that? exactly, no answer. So firing him after 08 was pointless. And made Hamilton look like and idiot.

Why wasn't he fired after 2005?

For all of the nostalgic reasons that his supporters continue to provide (i.e. he loved the university, he had been here so long, he represented us well, etc. etc.) in his defense to this day. That's what many of them (conveniently) fail to remember, acting as if these things were simply left unconsidered or unimportant. It was these very things which saved his arse in 2005.

All of those things served as his bond to get out of jail following that first losing season. When he did it a second time, there was nothing left for him to pawn, beg, borrow or steal (it had already been spent), and he got rung up.

I know. And they'll blame me for it....

Since VN admitted we are farther behind earlier in the summer, it is obvious we should not have fired Fulmer.

You can start the spin. Saying we're farther behind has to do with who was hired and the situation in which he left.

No. The objection was with the hiring of Lane Kiffin. Fulmer, as evidenced by this poll, was obviously no longer wanted.

why even bother to respond once the lunacy reaches the point of making logic leaps so far as to even test the bounds of reality?

He had lost it--time to go. But, he got millions as a parting gift, so he's ok.

Because to some he had earned the privilege to "right the ship".

He failed miserably.

If I were the AD, he would have been announcing his resignation approximately 3 seconds after the Vandy players left the field in 2005.

Why the delay?

How long is the halftime intermission, anyways?

Sometimes, you have got to fall down so you can learn to pull yourself back up. Problem was.......Fulmer was to fat and far gone to get back up.

It wasn't the debate, in general, but a rather specific one from the aforementioned thread.

But I agree on two fronts: they will sing his praises forever, and I am arrogant.

And of course you know that we are going to have to read his copy and paste argument again for another 15 or whatever pages. I swear he has everyone of his posts on a word document and he just chooses which one to copy and paste onto here.

After seeing what has happened to the program after Fulmer was fired, I have to vote no. We wouldn't be any worse off than we are right now if we would have given him a couple of more years.

Memphis, Maryland, Wyoming, LSU (01), Clemson, Kansas ST. Just a few of my favorites. Awesome coaching up of little talent. :stinker2:

I'm going to award this a rare "+1" from the D.

what shape do you think the fanbase would be in if he was still here?

I'm not trying to spin. I've put myself through reading enough of the 10-additional pages of hogwash on the other thread. I feel dirty having done so.

I certainly don't mind the poll being put up; I'm interested. Of course, knowing the GoF have 10 usernames between them, we have to be cautious of the authenticity.... :wink

(Joke).

Ask FSU how that Philosophy worked out for them. The man lost it. And he wasn't getting it back.

1. You don't have future vision when deciding to fire someone.

2. Giving Fulmer two more years means we're doing this all again in 2011.

This thread will likely be hung around your neck, much like LG's "I Quit" thread was hung around his.

IMO

GoF? You mean the Lesion of Doom.

Your explanation is a little off. We weren't just running on 1st and 2nd anymore after Cutcliffe was rehired. We had a buffoon for an OL coach, passive defensive gameplans, and just horrid special teams. Talent wasn't the issue when we were struggling to beat Vandy and Kentucky the last few years.
I agree that after Cut came back we stopped running the ball but I was talking more about while Sanders was here(up to 2005). Completely agree about special teams.

1. No, but I do when someone asks that question after the fact on Volnation.

2. And maybe in 2011, we would have been able to actually get a coach that we wanted? Maybe things would have worked out better? Who knows.
