The Randy Shannon deal was another pathetic attempt of reporting/journalism by the Knoxville media. And before there are some that say, "Well ESPN and Miami reported it as well," remember ESPN used the coaching rumor website as their source, and the Miami guy's source probably was one of the Knoxville media guys.

Shannon may be the choice, but it is obvious Dooley is doing his interviewing of defensive coordinators at the coaching convention in San Antonio and that no deal has been offered or been in place for anyone.

It is obvious UT is telling the Knox media a story to throw them off the Shannon trail. Dooley wants it to be somewhat of a surprise next week! IF the Knox media are good little boys and girls and play the game then Dooley will be nice to them and let them interview the new DC.

If only it worked like that.

Why because LWS said so?

What am I missing. OP needs to give background for comments. Has it been officially reported Shannon is not the guy.

i dont even think LWS knows whats going on. sorry no disrespect bc he is a great poster. but the logic doesn't add up.

Exactly.

We have our biggest recruiting weekend coming up, with recruits wavering I am not sure Dooley is taking his sweet ass time. He knew who he wanted a week ago and had plan B&C ready.

Ever thought that he is in San Antonio interviewing to fill the other vacancies?

he more than likely is trying to fill the staff that is on the non-defensive side of things. Who knows if he wants a Special Teams coordinator/TE coach, or just one discipline separately. In my mind, I believe DC brings in his own LB coach and possibly DL coach.

Hopefully DB coach as well

seems CTJ is too important on the recruiting cycle to give up. recruits have said it, even mcneil who is arguably our most talented recruit, said that he has a great bond with him. So that being said, I would want him to stay put.

Really hope this is true! After hearing all these media reports and rumors on VN it has me stoked about CRS. Now if we get anybody other than CRS it's going to be a major disappointment from my point of view. I knew I shouldn't have got my hopes up but oh well that's the life of a VFL.

Negative. Nothing has been reported yet. Just fans speculating and getting impatient. Can't say I blame anyone for being impatient though

I have been mostly reading the threads since joining and it is those who keep saying it is not RS are the only one's who do not believe it. I have not come across a new poster who says it is not RS. So I just disregard what those guys say and am just waiting for Monday. I also agree with others that Dooley could be interviewing coaches for the other open spots. This is all mu opinion and I could be wrong, but why would Dooely wait and possibly lose some of the recruits that the team needs. Dooely is a smart guy and has something in place for DC. We just have to wait and see who it is.
