I understand he is a fan favorite, and he certainly deserves that for being apart of the '98 National Championship Team. I, however, don't see how on earth he's the most qualified coach we could get. It seems like a potential hire by Dooley for fans to be able to cheer Tee on the VolWalk rather than get someone who's a great coach. Again, I love Tee as much as everyone else; I don't see how he's the most qualified candidate. Just my take.

Because he is a TRUE VFL, unlike you and all the haters around here. JMO, IMHO

I agree. It's obvious. He's under qualified and I'm hoping to hell he hasn't actually been offered a coaching position on this staff.

Agreed. Good recruiter, but not sold on him as a WR coach. QB coach, maybe.

Along the same lines I'm not sure if I buy into Hinshaw coaching WR's as well.

I love T and what he did for us, but I want the best coach possible for the position.

What happens if he accepts and then down the road has to be let go? Then we have a another pissed off VFL on our hands.

I don't even think it's a given that he's a great recruiter.

Anyone know how he has recruited at Kentucky? He gonna have to get out and pound some pavement if he gonna stick around here. The "I'm Chuck Smith and you're not!" routine will only get you a year or two. Even for Tee...

I hope everyone has forgot about those Ben Franklin we might have mailed him down in Mobile back a dozen years ago.......lol

Someone posted he was acknowledged by Rivals as a top 25 recruiter, I'd like to see who he's pulled.

LawVol, you had posted you'd seen the recruiting schedule for coaches... Was Wilcox supposed to be on the road today?

Edit2: Never mind, Bucksnort just posed there is no meeting with the defense today.

I saw this earlier and completely agreed: He would bring back the "championship mentality".

Also, recruits love him. There's just not much that can be done at Kentucky.

Any new coach that signs on will know that it is a 50/50 shot at best that they will even have a job after next year.

Come on, Kingston. I think most of that is just talk. If it works out, great, but he's just not qualified.

You would think that Tee is still plugged into the UT scene and with that he should know what an effed up situation it seems to be.

This is what was posted in another thread.

from ukathletics.com

Tee Martin, former National Football League quarterback and national championship QB at Tennessee, made a big impact in his first season on the Kentucky staff.

On the field, Wildcat wide receiver Randall Cobb earned first-team All-America honors and was drafted by the NFL's Green Bay Packers. Chris Matthews was a second-team All-Southeastern Conference pick after tying for the league lead in touchdown catches.

Off the field, Martin made a huge impact in recruiting and was tabbed as one of the top-25 recruiters in the league by ESPN.com.

I agree BUT...Seems like we need a former Tennessee player to give these young players some...perspective. How things are s'posed to be done, what can happen down the line. Like "Hey 21, you know the guy your yelling at is going to be the guy talking to the NFL guys after your junior year, right?" Or" I played on a TEAM the year after Manning, we stuck together despite nobody giving us much of a chance and won the NC."

Jay Graham would be qualified, love to see him back here in the future.

Truth is, I fear that if any of these guys come back now, they might be hunting a new job a year from now.

Martin was a finalist and maybe even offered a job last year at Bama. Top 25 recruiter determined by rivals at a hell hole to recruit to. Coached a kid that wasn't blessed with a 5star rating into a NFL WR high draft pick. Any of those move your needle?
