Hasn't coached a team to 8 wins in about 10 years, but his mouth is still its prime . . .
“We’re not going to bail out from playing North Carolina the way Tennessee did."

Well, I don't see us backing out against Connecticut. Something I think he'd consider if presented with the opportunity.

Still funny. Always speaking his mind.

Among the most respected minds in college football. Yet he can't impress any 18 year old QB talents to approach the altar of the QB master, he is also probably the only one who has never wondered why.

Unless the kid commits to always seeing the field the way Spurrier does, always thinking the way Spurrier does, and always acting the way Spurrier feels is appropriate all while getting belittled and threatened with replacement, then I don't know many QBs that can handle having Spurrier as a coach.

And I don't blame the kids. He has never adjusted and was spoiled(more if possible) by Wuerffel and Matthews, IMO.

Travis Haney (gamecocksblog) on Twitter
Bruce Feldman & the gamecocks blog Twitters are both offering up the latest quotes by Spurrier:

# Gamecocks scheduled to play North Carolina again in 2013. That game was supposed to be this season in Columbia, but UNC asked to play LSU.
Spurrier had a lot of emphasis on word "football." “We’re not going to bail out from playing North Carolina the way Tennessee did."
Spurrier: "I said, 'Golly, times have changed when UT doesn't want to play UNC in football because they're too good for them.'" about 2 hours ago via web

OUCH! :censored:

We were asking for it when the news broke. I guess we know how South Carolina, Vandy, and Kentucky fans feel year in and year out...

I think he's getting paid back by the football gods over in the QB purgatory that is Columbia, SC.

This isn't near as irritating when we regularly eat his lunch on the football field.

This is turning to much into a business other than a sport. When's all of this going to stop. I hope one day they get back to what made UT great and stop worrying about the where the next bucks going to come from.

Spurrier should be worrying about paying hotel bills and not the UT schedule.

This is a classic move, divert attention away from brewing agents/hotel scandals in Columbia.

Today, Spurrier instructed his players to move out of the hotel and settle their bills. I understand an average night in that hotel is $57 a night, 30 nights @ $57 is $1710 a month. And that doesn't include taxes and tips. One would think you could get a hell of a nice place in Columbia SC for $1710 a month. This is going to be a good side show this fall for Mr Spurrier.

Spurrier isn't even important anymore...He's washed up...The game has passed him by more than it passed by Fulmer...He's like that little chihuahua trying to be a big dog but continually getting stepped on...Hilarious

Spurrier has a very good point......

This is TENNESSEE, TENNESSEE.

I do not give a rats ass how brutal weeks 2-7 would have been next year, TOUGH **** play through it. I AM SPEECHLESS every time I have to think about this.

Winning games against BUFFALO will earn Dooley NO RESPECT.

Do not give me the S.E.C. schedule bullcrap either, thats part of the game.

IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST, YOU GOT TO BEAT THE BEST. Hell North Carolina is not even close to the best and we are dropping off our schedule because we need a BREAK.

It looks to me like next year would be a good time to play UNC. I'm pretty sure they will be losing a lot of talent after this season. They should be in rebuilding mode. Bottom line, we scheduled it, we should have played it.
