On Fulmer and kiffin from tos

Had nothing to do with hurt feelings. He simply beat a below average UGA team whose defensive staff couldn't figure out how to handle a qb rolling out. Bet those guys didn't coach in the SEC again... :ermm:

Your last sentence was totally lost to most fans.

Daddy Chad is lost.

So Richt is better? His program was established and Kiffin curb stomped it after less than a year into a program.

One win in one year. Richt was a play away from winning the sec title and possibly the national title after that. Richt is a more proven coaching commodity than Kiffin. Head to head record over a one year period is stupid.

If Kiffin could get us back to where we should be, I'd take him back. I'm sure some of these recruits would be giving us much more attention with Kiffin and his offensive potential.

Wanting him to leave is one thing (though I disagree about that right now) - but the replacements being thrown out there just don't make sense. Gotta get past the anger and think this through.

Absolutely agree this needs to be thought through. Just read an article that made a lot of sense to all parties involved.

...The best move for all parties involved is for Jones to take less of a buyout and walk away. I know that sounds crazy but put yourself in Jones’ position. He’s not hurting for money and can convince a smaller school that he can rebuild their program. Jones may not be able to win a championship at a high level, but he’s proven, at Central Michigan and Cincinnati, he can win with less pressure. Happiness should be worth some of that buyout. Jones can take the financial hit...

Is a buyout the way forward for Butch Jones and Vols?

As to who would be the best candidate to take TN football to the next level...?

Unfourtnately I think Jones is too proud & stubborn to take a smaller buyout & move on as evidenced by his complaining last week that he just doesn't understand the criticism of the VOLS current progress. Of course, this right before he goes & blows the biggest game of his career.

Sugar bowl payout =18 mil
Current bowls payout considering ut =2 mil

Guys, Kiffin literally left Knoxville under the cover of darkness. He is a coward, stop lying to yourselves. We do not want that back in our program. :loco:

Agreed. He can coach, no doubt about it. But we don't want him on the Hill. Besides, taking him back would be kind of pathetic.

Am I missing something here?...It seems a lot of you have very short memories...Kiffin came here and embarrassed us to the point where the SEC commish had to reprimand him from talking trash...His recruiting was shady and i have no doubt he would've gotten us a major NCAA violation...He dumped us like we were nothing but a stepping stone and then talked trash about us after he took the job...He wanted to humiliate us in the kickoff classic and challenged us to the game after he took the USC job which we turned down...Thank god and then he returns to knoxville with hated alabama and runs the score up on us...If we gave him another chance it would be embarrassing to the university and all he would do is snicker and build himself up again and dump us once again for another pac 10 school so he could be closer to his kids...Screw that guy!...I don't care how good he is he is not worth anybodies time esp ours.

He left to take his dream job at USC. Now he knows thats all gone. The guy is about to win 2 NCAA championships as the OC at Bama. He can coach and he will bring in guys who can coach and recruite. Just look at what he did with Jonathan Crompton in one year. Bring in Blackburn as AD and Fulmer as a special assistant to the AD and lets roll.

So if we were to strike out on a big time hire you would rather have another up and comer over Kiffin? Sorry, but I've moved on from the past. Kiffin is an offensive genius and has kept himself in check under Saban. He can build an SEC staff and would likely bring a top DC with him.

As long as he keeps his nose clean, I would welcome him back. He knows he made a mistake when he left and I believe he can win quickly with the talent Jones has brought in. A move needs to be made sooner than later though or we will be stuck right back in a rebuild.

I would have said heck no two days ago, but the more I think about it, the more I would be happy to have Kiffin back.

I never blamed Kiffin for leaving for his dream job, but I did have a problem with them trying to steal our recruits. But, in all honesty, wouldn't YOU try and convince the kids you had been building relationships with to follow you to your new team?

Would we be upset if Kiffin was hired after the bowl game and tried to convince Bama recruits to follow him to UT? That's basically the same deal.

I think we would get a wiser Lane Kiffin who will turn out better this go round than if he had stayed the first time.

It was head to head with us in no way having some kind of talent advantage, and he massacred him. Sorry facts bother you.
