On behalf of David Holbert, our family would like to apologize to Coach Fulmer, AD Hamilton, other coaches, vol fans, vol players, David's fans and vol administration for his mistakes and bad judgement this past weekend. His actions are not a direct reflection of what type of person he is and character he has. It was bad judgement on his part in the heat of the moment. We would like to thank Coach Fulmer and the University of Tennessee for giving David an opportunity to earn a college degree while playing the very thing he loves to do and that's playing football. We can assure that this type of character displaying will never happen again from him.

Lastly, to the Volnation, please don't be so quick to condem these players so fast without knowing all the facts and details first. These players put it on the line each Saturday to entertain us. I am particularly disturb by all the criticism that Arian Foster is receiving, remember this kid put it on the line last year during a bad season, he was our brightest spot. He's been nothing but money on that goaline this year, remember Alabama game winning TD, secured victory TD against SC last week, 3 TD's against UGA..Wardlow blocked punt against UGA, David 2 years ago switched the momentum against SC with a touchdown from Ainge, which gave us life going into the second half of that game.. How soon we forget...I don't blame Fostermom for not talking to you guys and giving you guys anymore insight on Arian...Let's please bury this and get on...This is all I have to say...

We all have learning experiences early in life. That is where "life experience" comes from in many instances. Thankfully for me, I was never under the high level of scrutiny for my "experiences" that the players are. One mistake (or even 2) does not (should not) condemn a person to an eternity of scorn. Let's hope all involved have learned from it and will grow as men because of it.

Good post Holbert1, I'm certainly not judging any of these guys considering all the crazy stuff I did in college. Problems come and go and hopefully they all learned a valuable lesson from this so they are able to move on in life and continue to be the great young men they are.

I have 3 boys in college, and they have been in some minor trouble with the law as well. That is why I knew better than to throw any stones. There are a few posters on here that will take jabs at anything without giving the subject matter any thought.I just don't see the correlation of bringing up what they have done on the football field and what happened the other night. They are kids, plain and simple, that got a little carried away. The main thing is to stay out of trouble from now on.Thanks for the post. Thanks to your son for playing for UT.It has to be very hard to play football and to stay on top of your grades as well!

One mistake in judgment does not define a person. The fans have discussed it, the punishment has been meted out by the University, and the games will be played. These young men will be just fine.

Well said. Am proud of you for coming on here and posting it, too. I haven't read too many of the posts because I knew this was one of those areas where people would be shooting off their mouths without knowing all the facts. I'm just glad my kids don't make the papers for all there antics (it's bad enough to see pictorial evidence on Facebook)!

I was an administrative assistant for a small college (with less of a spotlight) when I was in school.... so I know what kind of trouble athletes 'could' get themselves into. Had the press been interested in my small college athletics program, there could have been several major scandals. Sometimes, these type of things are better handled by the coaches internally and not judged in the media.

Nice post Holbert1. I agree that this team has played its hardest this season. 7-2 is nothing to be ashamed of, especially after losing alot of close games last season. RE: Foster, I agree with you, what more does the kid need to do. He played hurt last season and he's playing hurt this season. He's giving his all for the team and has come up bigtime in some of the crucial games. I'm sure his stats would be as good as last season if he were given 20+ carries per game... but that is just not what Cutcliffe wants to do.

Great post! We as fans get upset when someone/something gives our beloved school bad press. Factor that in with we was coming off a heartbreaking loss and I think most of us said things we shouldn't have said. I think these kids will learn from this mistake and keep thier noses clean from now on. I know I myself was going to frat parties and doing ALOT of things I shouldn't have been doing at thier age. These kids still and always will have my support. Mistakes is what makes life interesting and keeps us humble. Let's go roast us some Hogs now!

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said, and I hope Fostermom and Holbert1 will look past some of the comments made and just realize that we love the Vols. Its kinda like your kids, they do something to disappoint you, but you still love them and support them. I for one, am very appreciative and proud that Arian, David and Antonio chose the Univeristy of Tennessee, and recognize the effort and sacrifice these young men put forth each week. As far as the fans go, in my 15 years of attending games at Neyland, I have seen my fair share of drunk fans being hauled out, and plenty that should have been, some I wanted to drag out myself:furious3: , nothing like sitting there watching the Vols with your son, and beligerent drunks sitting right behind you, eventually puking:disappointed: , now thats a Neyland memory you cant forget. Finally, GO VOLS!

Good post Holbert1. I think the vast majority of Vol fans look at this as an aberration and just want to move on now that CPF has handed out the punishment. It says a lot about the families of the young men that wear the Orange and White when we see a communication such as yours.

I also am proud that Antonio, David, and Arian chose the University of Tennessee. I hope their college experience is very positive overall and they grow to love UT as much as we do.

GO VOLS!

Thank you for your apology and for reminding us that we have all exercised poor judgement at times but fortunately did not have those instances exposed to the public. I think we, as fans, are so proud of our team and we think of the players as our sons or brothers and sometimes we want to smack them when they make mistakes, just like our parents felt about us and like we feel about our children at times. It isn't because we don't love them, it is because we want them to strive to be above the norm. I am certain that you are very proud of David and we are proud of all three of these players. Hopefully, they have learned like all of us need to learn to THINK before you act and consider the CONSEQUENCES!! Let's move on and BEAT ARKANSAS!

Nice post. Please don't take the comments from a few and think they are the opinion of the rest of us. These guys have never been in trouble before and unfortunaely/fortunately they learned a valuable life lesson without anyone getting hurt. Thanks again for the post.

Good post Holbert1

I for one don't think the whole thing was that big of a deal. I don't think most Vols fans do either.

By this time next week it will have all blown over.

Hang in there. :good!:

Great post Holbert1. It is obvious that many in the VolNation have been VERY quick to judge... much like their KPD counterparts on Saturday night. Reading Foster's apology and explanation sheds a lot of light on the situation.

ESPN.com - NCF - Vol apologizes, says he was trying to break up fight

I know the police work hard to keep us safe, but many of them seem to get on power trips on gameday. Quick story, as the AF game was ending, and I was already headed home with a headache I got to the corner of PF Way and Kingston... cars were stopped, no one was crossing the street and three officers just standing in the middle of the street. I yelled out "May I cross?" Not wanting to cross the street if I wasn't supposed to. No answer. I ask two more times without any indication. So I start to walk up Kingston and yell "Thanks for letting me know if I can cross the street!" At which point I am suddenly worth replying to with a "Do you want me to take you to jail?!?!"

Looks like the same attitude by officers prevailed in this situation on Saturday.

Thanks for the post Holbert1! I think the media as well as several fans were quick to start throwing stones without knowing all the facts. Thanks to you and Fostermom for rearing two fine men who represent the University of Tennessee well.

Stand up post, Holbert. I'll also put in my two cents worth that we all made some mistakes growing up and sure could've used a little understanding from those that matter to us.. :hi:
