Some here won't remember this, but the last time we had an offense similar to what we have now was when peyton ( i can't beat florida) manning was qb at tennessee. Part of peyton's failure to beat florida was himself. The other...

the offensive line couldn't block florida's pressure to save his life. Our oline must protect bray if we are to have any chance in this game and they have to produce positive running yards be it 2 yards a carry.

we had a running back who is now back with the program and i hope he gets a well deserved win vs uf saturday. we also had 2 great wide recievers in marcus nash and joey kent.

Whole damn team better bring their "A" game... After all, this is a UT/UF game!

You better hope Chaney comes up with a different game plan for running the ball. They can not rely on bray to save the day in this game.

FL had a better team last year.

We are at home this year.

We are older.

Our Oline is much improved.

We are obviusly stronger and faster all around.

Our RB's are better. I didn't say great but we are better.

We have ran for more yards this year so far than we did last year and it's not even close.

We only had one top WR last year against them and that guy was a headcase. We now have two top WR's.

Bray has gotten even better.

All signs point some whoop ass being handed out on Florida.

Why not?

Fair or not if bray doesn't bring it we don't win. Just the way it is. But I think he's up for it. This is his chance to truly become a star on a huge stage. I feel so good about this game. for the first time in a long time!

Whew.

1. Oh God, no. I saw replays of last years team and was cringing. We have improved at just about every position this year, specifically quarterback.

2. Home field in the SEC is always an advantage and I completely expect Neyland to be rocking.

3. This confuses me. Do you think that Florida players didn't age?

4. Same can easily be said for ours.

5. We are too. Jeff Dillman, our new strength coach, made these guys noticeably bigger and faster athletes. Really played a role in the second half of the A&M game, imo.

6. I can guarantee none of your running backs are as good as Mike Gillislee. The depth behind the starters are probably about equally talented, though.

7. I hope you aren't trying to boast about your running game... :ermm:

8. Patterson and Hunter are super talented and will be hard to stop. I will be the first to admit that. But what I want to know is why do you say our db's are small? One of our starting corners, Louchiez Purifoy, is 6'1", the opposite corner, Marcus Roberson, is 6'0". You're probably aware of Elam and Evans already. I understand they are not 6'4" 225 like CP but gosh, they are hardly undersized for a defensive back. Just about protypical, actually.

9. Yes he has.

10. We'll see. I'm ready to go. Can't wait.

To say, Peyton "I can't beat Florida" Manning---the last time I checked football is a team sport. That said, yes, PM is/was known for his "happy feet".
As for going 0-4 against Florida---'94 and '95 not on Manning. '96 and '97 his INT's were lethal.

1994 - Todd Helton was starter. PM came in for a few minutes in the 4th and well after the gm was decided.

1995 - PM led Tennessee to a 30-14 halftime score, second half collapse was all "D".

1996 - Despite a tremendous 2nd half effort the four INT's (35-0) in the 1st half (35-6 halftime) were too much to overcome.

1997 (33-20) - Dn 2 TD's and a key INT (George) to end the half.

Fast forward to 2012...
Pass Blocking is not an area of concern. Run Blocking and RB decision making are. IMO
We had good Rushing totals against both NCST & GSU but now that we are going into Conference play to consistently win we need better execution and decision making by both O-Line and RBs.

Could we move on to this century please.
