I know it's early in the season, but did anyone else think Ole Miss' time in the sunshine is over? They struggled to beat Memphis. Either we're gonna pummel Ole Miss, or Memphis is gonna be tougher than we expect IMO.

IMO, This game was ALOT closer then the score shows. I have not been to high on the Ole Miss hype. I think they lose 3 maybe 4!

Ole Miss, South Carolina, and LSU all struggled this weekend. None of them played all that good of teams either. I know Washington got USC's OC, but to say he turns around a team in week 1 of the season that was 0-12 last year I think is a little risky to say. I don't think LSU or Ole Miss are as good as the polls say.

Let's not jump to conclusions based on one game. Memphis has given us fits in the past despite always having far less talent. Plus they've played in a bowl in 5 of the last 6 years. Memphis isn't that good, but they aren't WKU.

The Rebels got it rolling in the 4th quarter, I also thought the Tigers played well and they have some guys that are huge. They have 2 receivers over 6'5" and some big linemen.

IMO it looked more like the Tigers gave up in the 4th quarter more than Rebels got rolling.

Agreed, it's only week one. Everyone's still knocking off the rust from 7 months of offseason.

I'm trying to be a little optimistic for the Ole Miss game people thinks we're gonna get blown out by. It seems to me that we got rid of our "jitters" quicker than others at least. I hope that gives us great momentum into UCLA.

That's kinda the deal with Nutt, he's always been able to get his teams up for upset type games, but has struggled winning games he's suppose to win.

in Washington's defense, they did return almost all of their starters. but still, i agree that it was a lot closer than it shouldve been, seeing as how they were 0-12.

I was at the Memphis/Ole Miss game and I gotta say...for a top 10 team, Ole Miss did NOT impress me. I'm not sure if it was 1st game rust, jitters, or just being overrated. But Snead particularly didn't seem all that poised for the supposed 2nd best QB in the SEC. JMHO.

P.S.-I didn't know Ole Miss fans could be so arrogant. This especially applying to a team that had a 3 quarter fight with a C-USA team.

Can't stand Ole Miss...or Bama (given).

GO VOLS!!!

with that said, memphis is a LOT better than WKU and i think theyre as good as UCLA. we cant afford to look over them for Ole Miss, but if we are focused we will win.

Ole Miss on the other hand, didnt look too hot until they got that "wild rebel" working in the late third quarter. those last 2 TDs late came when the first team O was playing on all cylinders against a D that new it was over at that point (who had stopped them the entire game before that). Ole Miss=3rd in West.

This was the sloppiest opening weekend of football I can remember. I'm not going to make too much of any team, whether good or bad. Ole Miss does have a lot of talent.

I didnt see the game but I heard they were scoring with 6 seconds left!! They said score was not indicative of how close the game really was.

And yes, OLE MISS FANS DO SUCK THAT BAD....ALMOST AS BAD AS gators..they will get their's...GO VOLS

That 0-12 Washington team was missing a star QB that was back under center this year. Granted one player does not make a team, but Steve has injected some fire into that team not unlike our staff has done to ours. With that said, LSU defense gave up some pretty big plays... on 3rd down a lot... hmmm. I think UW was like 12-20 on 3rd down conversions.

Memphis has pretty good talent due to the transfers from some top programs. That being said Memphis is still little better than a mediocre program at this point. Judging Ole Miss by this game is a little premature, although i will admit that at this point they leave reason to doubt the hype. We should know exactly who they are over the coarse of the next couple of weeks.

You see that when teams aren't used to getting praise. When a fan pulls for a team that sucks for a long time and they are finally getting high praise they don't know how to handle it.

Well it was 100 degrees and the team was screwing around against a 17 point underdog in the ghetto, so nobody was in a good mood. We are more comfortable in our natural environment sipping mint juleps in the grove.

I want to go down to Oxford for the Tennessee game. I do not however, want to sit in the middle of those jerks.
Anyone know where the visitors section is at their stadium? Anyone going to the game?
Go Vols!
