Ole Miss with anthem issues

IMO, Confederate statues have no place on public grounds other than battlefields. Confederate flags have no place flying on public buildings. But Confederate soldiers graves deserve respect. They only did what their Govt told them to do....

The same could be said of Nazi soldiers in Germany. They sure as heck aren’t honoring them. Only here in the South is the losing side that propped up human atrocities still celebrated. The history happened, but you don’t have to “honor” the losing side that represented ideas that are abhorrent.

It is comical how someone can be triggered and get upset about a lack of patriotism for players kneeling, yet also not understand why Confederate monuments are a problem or outright support them despite the Confederacy literally being the enemy of the United States.

While I served to protect anyone's right to protest how they feel, up to and including kneeling during the anthem, this was not a protest. It was an excuse to kneel during the anthem and scream for attention.

Look, if they wanted to "protest" the team could go out and counter with a peaceful march of their own. The student body would likely join them in overwhelming support. But to do something as dividing as kneeling? No, that's a pathetic attempt to draw attention to the reason why. Because nobody is going to care about the pro-Confederate march. They are going to care about a bunch of college kids pulling a stunt that is perceived as disrespectful to a great many people and ideals.

It's an apples to oranges way of protesting. And in my opinion, a childish reaction with motives of seeking attention to themselves rather than what they are "protesting."

What makes it childish? They had a stage and took advantage.

What is the media reporting on today? The pro-Confederate march that had less than 50 people?

Or a collegiate basketball team kneeling during the national anthem?

It was childish in the fact the team either didn't think this all the way through or they knew the attention was going to be drawn on themselves.

What? A protest created attention towards themselves over a confederate march? It’s almost like a protest actually worked!

The only reason you view as childish is because you don’t like it. Talk about childish. Despite the players and coaches repeatedly saying it’s not about them, the anthem or the flag, you choose to not listen or believe them. Again, talk about childish.

They even stated it wasn’t about the US flag. But hey, ignore facts
So it’s not about the flag and they purposefully choose not to stand and honor a flag which represents the side which vanquished the confederacy? I think if anyone is ignoring facts it’s them.

You're basically saying black people are too dumb and uninformed to vote Republican. That's pretty insulting.
Lol, really? I typed it, yet I don't see anything in it that says that. Considering the history and statues are being taken away by Democrats to hide the truth people will have to look up the Civil war to find out what it was about.

I could care less who anyone votes for but if anybody of any race wants to learn what really went on it's a quick Google search. You have to want to look for the truth, to find the truth. You can't teach about slavery taking half the story out so that it fits your narrative.

Yea I’m sure the reason republicans want to keep them is to expose democrats

You just made my point, it's all history. If we're going to take down statues, plaques and history (out of schools)from 150 years ago then we need to stop mentioning slavery from 150 years ago. You can't have one without the other. These Generals and battles in history tell the story of America fighting to change and give everyone rights.
