With their upset of Alabama today, they are tied with the Crimson Tide for the lead in the West at 5-5.

Looks like Hatvol may be right about Andy Kennedy. He seems like a serious candidate for SEC Coach of the Year.

I'm not sure, but I assure you that the missed FTs that lost us the OSU game will have the biggest impact on our NCAA tourney seeding, unless we beat UF.

Seeding, perhaps, but in regards to complete second-half collapses, Auburn ranks pretty high on the list.

Even with the loss to OSU, we're hanging at #15 in the RPI. Only Kentucky and Florida have higher RPIs than us in the SEC.

OK, but we're not even talking about WHETHER we make the field if we make a couple of FTs in that game.

Who knows? Conference games are still quite important. I heard a stat today during the broadcast that in recent years, only one team that had a 7-9 record in conference made it to the NCAA tourney. Apparently that was Alabama a few years ago.

I don't think that was just 'recent years', that was 'ever' since the SEC went to 12 teams.

Let's just get to 20 wins and get in the dang tourney

If Pearl can get back-to-back tourney appearances in his first two years, I'll be *very* pleased.
I'd like to see us end the debate with our play as well, but I think 19 gets it done for us.

Could be... Somebody will have to run the stats history...

If it's since the league went to 12 teams, that's pretty strong motivation for us to get 20 wins!

19 with our RPI - probably. 20 with our RPI, we're a lock.

Speaking of RPI and our out-of-conference wins - Texas Tech almost knocked off Oklahoma State today. OK State only managed to pull it out in the second overtime. Texas is playing better, however.

I guess you could still call that recent years, since the SEC has only been 12 teams for what, 14 or 15 years now?

Dickie V just said the Vols were a lock for the tourney...
Yeah, I heard that too watching the Kentucky game. Frankly, I was a little surprised by that statement, because we still have work to do.

In other news, everybody needs to keep an eye on their Kentucky friends. The Wildcat fans are on suicide-watch tonight after that loss.

My daughter, who is an Ole Miss student, was at the game. Largest crowd to ever see an Ole Miss home game........about 9,000. Said the fans were loud and enthusiastic. I hope the Rebs get an Ncaa bid.

If they do get a bid, he's a real strong candidate for SEC Coach of the Year. Especially if he goes on to win the SEC West during the regular season.

If Pearl closes out our season with a ton of wins, I hope he's in consideration for COY. Especially with the loss of Lofton for four games. Not that any SEC coach would vote for him.

I would imagine that if Florida goes 16-0 in the conference then the result of SEC COY is a foregone conclusion.
