Furthermore defenders of the MLB’s status quo hold up that Royals team as their main exhibit to show that money doesn’t buy championships. No, it actually does. Royals had to pay quite a price and they still haven’t recovered. Large markets can sustain excellence like the Astros and Dodgers have shown
