OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I feel confident that 52’s dentist knows what he or she is doing. I don’t think the dentist needs help from VN. And I know trying to worry 52 is no bueno.

Who is this, ToothPack22?
Our coaches need help from VN. We all know that😂. Apparently our dentist need help too😉

It's more a case of bone quality rather than time that impacts success or failure. For example, split ridge augmentation is often done well after the teeth were removed. In addition, if the teeth were periodontally involved and/or there was active infection, it's usually wise to wait a week or two post op and possibly have the patient on antibiotics prior to graft placement. Think of it like having an appendectomy. The surgeon doesn't just grab the scalpel an make the incision. He prepares the site first to eliminate bacteria. Same concept.

Having said all that, it would be wise to do the grafting as soon as possible to preserve as much bone as possible. Without teeth or implants, there's no stimulation and the bone resorbs and that's no bueno for denture wearers.
Welcome back, VolPack22 😁

Makes sense. I work in a dental office and we typically aren’t extracting more than 5 teeth at a time. If the patient has severe perio, impactions or are getting full mouth then we refer those cases out. It just irritates me when I see people getting full mouth and dentures and their dentist didn’t push for grafting. They end up with ill fitting dentures that won’t stay in their mouth because they have no ridge left to support them.
28 teeth seems like an awful lot to go at one time. Did they really all go bad at the same time? Could a few have been saved and hook a partial on them for a while? Whatever, it's not our business but this guy is beginning a tough road

Yes, my teeth needed taken out, they kept getting infected and I had a toothache almost everyday...

It could be for a number of reasons. It’s complicated and depends on how many teeth are actually salvageable and you have to take the patient’s budget into consideration because honestly it is more expensive to restore the remaining teeth with fills/and or crowns and replace the missing with partials when partials pretty much cost the same as a full denture.

Bone grafting was done during the procedure....

Your trip is just beginning. Trying to function with a plate of plastic over soft tissues (your gums) is not easy. Studies show that your best case scenario if everything goes great is that dentures will restore 20% of your chewing power. You’ll have to deal with the plate shifting when you bite on one side because that side is connected to the other side. You’ll want to consciously chew on both sides

Sounds like we’ve got plenty of dental professionals here so if you have issues, bring it up and we can help you out

God bless and I’m glad your toothaches are over

Eh, sometimes that will play for me, sometimes it freezes and I have to watch on phone. Idk why. But I'll be watching any way I can.
Same w/me. My internet feed wants to constantly buffer all game long.
Its very frustrating & angers me to no end for the price I pay for this service.
And what grinds my gears it seems to happen when an important play happens.

PS ... The Vols vs OK games happens Thursday Friday & Saturday.
