OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

Regardless, I'll miss ol' big ears and goofy grin. Enjoyed watching him race to the bottom of the pick 'em standings...well...almost the bottom. He's a good egg and fun. If he was booted, I hope the powers that be will reconsider. You can't keep losing long time, loyal contributors. At some point, the board may become a boring, group think wasteland.

If it is something personal, I pray God will bless and keep him and provide strength and comfort. Take care old friend.
🤔. We haven't done pick em since last season... Something is rotten and it's not the fish...

We have us a team again now. It be really nice if that
Edwards girl had a change of heart and decided to stay.
With the apparent toxicity surrounding last years squad, I think it might be best to start fresh with no hold overs. Not a women's basketball fan, but a new beginning might be just what that program and coach needs.

I've been a LVs women's fan ever since around
Pat Summitt's gang of 1987.

Edwards was not on last year’s team. She was an incoming HS recruit. 6’ 3”. Candace ‘esque athlete.

Ahhh....pretty sure I know who you are, and I'll leave it at that😉. Thinking I've gotten a couple emails from you.

Tell you a funny story about Bert....he was grand marshal for the dogwood trails...pobably about 2010. I was invited to the opening luncheon because my house at the time was a camera site. He gave the keynote speech. Afterwards I walked up to him and said hello, shook his hand. Told him how much I enjoyed his calls on the radio. Then I said that my freshman locker was down by the gym, and his 'hall of Bearden fame' picture was above my locker and I saw it at least three times a day. He got a huge laugh out of it. Good fella.
Great guy and a great family. Know/knew them all pretty well. Mr. B was the epitome of class. Always said hello and wanted to talk old times whenever I would run into him. Bert and I played baseball at Rocky Hill together. Billy Arbo was our stud pitcher. Billy went on to Webb and ended up at UT as a receiver.

Love it! I know Rocky Hill well, live there now. Played a lot of ball at the Rocky Hill fields...west hills too. In high school we figured out how to turn the lights on ourselves. We'd do a home run derby with a bucket of really decrepit balls..like some had the cover coming off, maybe they were just string at that point. We didn't care. Just had fun. Ahhh....those were the days🙂
