I know this stinks right now, but it's not so unexpected. I'm the king of grumps and negativity, but let's be honest. This is a young team overall. Lotta guys are still making the transition into bigger roles and struggling. There's no real dominant upperclass leadership to pick this team up and carry it through. On top of that, you've got a young, first time head coach replacing a charismatic and extremely popular coach in Vitello. PLUS, you lose arguably the best pitching coach in college baseball. Yeah, this year was always gonna be a struggle.
We might figure it out this year, but odds are that this is just one of those seasons that humbles and reveals character. Sophomores today become juniors tomorrow. Look at guys like Burke and Moore. Took a bit of time. They had the advantage of watching and learning from veterans. This team....not so much. Witching won't change the situation so the best move is just to support this bunch while they hopefully grow up. Maybe we sneak into the NCAAT and maybe we don't. Right now just they just need to focus on themselves and not outside gloom and doomers like me lobbing insults and complaints at them. I'm just gonna enjoy the moments this bunch can give me this season. No expectations.
Edit: Gawd....I can't believe the positivity drivel I just posted. So out of character.
