The whole thing was an awful experience. Hug your loved ones tight, and the little ones even tighter.

That’s gut wrenching as f@)?. Especially since you’re helpless sitting there. All while wanting to run through a brick wall.
Glad everything and everyone is safe. Squeeze em tight.

CRB’s words for the team.

Before the practice ahead of the Sweet 16 matchup against the Iowa State Cyclones, head coach Rick Barnes asked the entire Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball roster to gather at center court.
Not to discuss tactics.
Not to go over plays.
But to say the things he believed needed to be felt — not coached.

He stood there for a moment, his eyes moving across every player — the veterans who had battled through a demanding season, the young talents about to step onto one of the biggest stages of their lives, the leaders who had carried this team through pressure, doubt, and expectation.

Then he spoke:

“We didn’t get here by accident. We fought through every doubt, every tough night, every game people thought would break us. And still — here you are, standing together.”

His voice dropped, steady and real.

“Now there’s one game in front of us. And no matter what happens out there, understand this — nobody can take this journey away from you. Nobody can erase what you’ve already built as a team.”

A pause. Silence. Every word landing.

“Tomorrow, give everything you have. Fight for your brother next to you. Fight for this jersey. Fight for this moment. And when it’s over — win or lose — I want you to walk off that court proud, smiling… because you stayed true to who you are.”

Then, just before breaking the huddle, he left them with 11 words that hung in the air:

“Play fearless, play together, and let the moment belong to you.”
