Did you happen to look up that roster and see how many of their players are really Italian? Three. How many were born here in the USA? 24. There's also a Canadian and a couple from South America. It's a joke how the WBC allows these rosters to be built
Its called duel citizenship, these players aren't breaking the rules..

That’s just it. You don’t need duel citizenship. It’s far more lenient than that. If your grandparents were a citizen you’re in. If you’re eligible to get a passport from a country, you’re in. In fact from what I’ve read, you can even change teams mid tournament. It’s nuts
 
To clear up my earlier comments, players cannot change teams mid year. They can change from who they played for in previous WBCs

Yes, players can switch their team in between World Baseball Classics.
