OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

Wife and I were talking to our daughter this morning and talked about Pat Summit and how her upbringing yielded such a driven woman and it made me think about hoe much we miss her - not just from coaching but how she could impact discussion.

Can you imagine how she might have gotten her point across on protecting women's sports? We lost more than just a great coach but the world lost a great leader with her illness and death.

What was a normal phone call became something much different.

She was always learning and intellectually curious. Just one of the best leaders on the planet.

My wife and I knew Pat well and we talk about this often. It is a great point you make.

I honestly believe a lot of this nonsense we have dealt with over the past 4-5 years would have not happened if Pat would have been with us.

Strong police and Wash U. response: a search of entire campus, surrounding streets closed, and nearby residents warned. Remaining classed canceled/. Son was facing two more classes and office hours, DIL has office on campus but was at medical campus. Havent talked to either, Son took Hallie,5, to wine bar, where she craves the eatery's hummus plate, then to playground and then pick up the granddsons at school/

I was fortunate enough to take a class under her and Nancy Darsch. They were both a lot of fun. The whole Title 9 and women’s sports today would have taken both of them over the edge.
