OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I'm not so sure about that. What about that ticket surcharge that Danny White was pushing to fund NIL? I agree the funding is murky but the university is clearly involved. That's a Title 9 problem IMO
Revenue share is different from NIL. Revenue share is distributed directly from the Athletic Dept. NIL is not. NIL is 3rd party and voluntarily funded by donors, boosters, businesses, etc. The previous admin declared Rev share to be governed by Title IX but current Admin overturned it. With that said, if I was making Rev share decisions, I’d follow the House Settlement suggestions for allocation—just like UT did.

I hadn’t realized that fact! I’ll work on getting my picture up there if I can find one so I can be appropriately identified….

Thank you for the good wishes on my knee. Surgeon has promised me it will be 100% better than my first one 10 years ago. The advancements that have been made in just 10 years is crazy. Most importantly, they don’t cut your quad muscle anymore. My quad completely shut down the first time. Bottom line, in 90 days, it will be just fine. Hope to be playing golf soon-if we ever get rid of the ice up here🙄
Best of luck on your knee surgery…..KOC has a doc that uses the non-evasive technique and that will be choice when the time comes. I am hearing amazing recovery times as a resut of that procedure.

I just had my rotator cuff done and it will be a while before I can get back but I have been dealing with it for so long, I cannot wait.

Best of luck to you!

Here's my question and I'd like to hear the board's thoughts:

How is NIL not a violation of Title 9? That rule states that you can't spend more on men than women. If your athletic dept is giving out $20 mill in NIL money to male ath;\letes, don't they have to match that for the females?
NIL is not governable. It’s what someone is willing to pay you for endorsement. Revenue sharing is different but all they would have to do is pull up the profit and loss report for athletic departments and you would be laughed out of the courtroom. You don’t get the same revenue because your sport is actually costing the schools money.

In the eyes for the NCAA rules, NIL has nothing to do with what the schools are spending.
