Everyone in the country is united saying this was the wrong call.
There are some out there saying “but he didn’t survive the fall” but you can’t rip it out once you are on the ground. That’s a completed catch. Also, if that’s the case, on Denver’s last touchdown the receiver used the ground to assist in possession of the ball. We are in 2026 and still have zero clue of what a catch is.

If you can, @CobbWebb71 , take your kids to spring training. It’s super kid friendly and many players are accommodating in giving autographs to kids. Our oldest has a ball that, by incredibly good luck, has the entire opening day lineup for the Reds (including Dusty Baker) from probably 10-12 years ago. Mike Maddux (when he was pitching coach for the Rangers) also asked him to play catch before a game and they had a running conversation while they played catch.

I don’t. The player in that situation has to survive going to the ground in order to establish that he caught the ball. If he’d caught the ball, ran 10 yards and then went down you’d be correct. He’s down, end of story. But in this case he hadn’t established that he caught the ball. By today’s rules he has to survive going to the ground here. In other words the ground itself can cause an incompletion here. It was a good call
