Nothing dramatic about it. Your Astros scored less runs than the horrible Nationals. Sometimes moving a runner over can be the difference between winning and losing.
Imagine having a runner at 2nd base with 0 outs in any random inning. The next 2 batters strike out swinging for the fences then the 3rd batter flies out on what could have been a sac fly but is an inning ending routine fly ball instead. Your team loses by 1 run whenever you could have at least forced extra innings. It frustrates the hell out of me watching these dudes strikeout all the damn time wasting at bats whenever they could be helping their team. Chipper was by no means the most talented guy to play the game but he was an extremely disciplined player whenever it came to hitting. If he could hit for average and power all while never striking out 100 times in a season then I know damn well these dudes playing now can do it too. And don’t give me this “well they throw so much harder now” BS. He played whenever the best pitchers were trotting out there. Randy Johnson would have 400 strikeouts in this league.
